So apparently Nevada natives think it's incredibly rude and inappropriate to pronounce Nevada Ne-Vah-Da. They say it's supposed to be pronounced Ne-Vaa-Da (aa as in dad).
But the etymology of Nevada is from the Spanish word nevada which is pronouced ne-vah-dtha.
Why care about the pronunciation of a word when you really are pronouncing it wrong. Can you imagine people from Los Angeles getting upset if you pronounce it the spanish way? I think mispronouncing Oregon is worse since there is really only one way to pronounce it. Nevadans must be huge tools to care that much.
