1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I enjoy GoT, but IMHO it's junkfood compared to Rome. To me, Rome ranks up there with Band of Brothers.

Thanks to the mention of Boss here, I caught up on the show during the past week. Great stuff. Really wish it had a proper conclusion (it probably could've been wrapped up in one more season).

As I recall, GRRM was a fan of Rome, too. Which makes sense, because the show was fucking awesome.

Watching Rome now. There are definitely some similarities, especially between Cercei and Caesar's niece.

And Brutus/littlefinger speech patterns are remarkably similar.

So I have been bingeing on Boss lately and I have a total SF complaint: Kelsey Grammer's character wears both suspenders and a belt. Just another example of government waste.

Yeah, little tidbit. Atia in Rome was actually modeled after Augustus' wife, Livia, in Robert Graves' "I, Claudius".

Suggestion: we remove the word "movie" from the thread title.

Watched the Dominion War episodes of Star Trek DS9. Being the Trek fanatic that I am, I can't believe I shrugged this one off until now. Captain Sisko is the man. Refuses to deal with Q and just punches his ass out, check. Nukes an entire planet just to kill one dude, check. Helps orchestrate a false flag terror attack killing a Romulan Senator in order to drag them into the Dominion War, check.

Now...I'm on the give Worf his own show bandwagon too.
