1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

sorry to prolong this tangent, but I wanted to squeeze in - I moved to the states less than a year ago after living most of my life in israel, serving in the army there and being relativly active in the peace movement. I moved for a variety of reasons, but the bottom line is that I moved because of the stress and strain caused by the conflict.

my feeling is that the palestinians need the Israelis to take blame for the situation. every arab that I have ever discussed this with has said basically the same thing - it is great that we can have peace now that Israel has accepted the terrible thing that it did to the palestians. The Israeli left's idea is basically to say "we both made mistakes, we both were wrong and wronged, lets move on".

these two ideas will not be able to meet easily.

Well, all this is in case your date starts up a conversation regarding the middle east peace process and you want to make sure you have come good point / counterpoint info at your finger tips. Jon.

I had a feeling this was your background, and have heard similar comments from many, even relatively very liberal, Palestinians and their Western supporters No, those ideas are world's apart.

And not to be a troll, but I think that it is time for both sides to leave grudges move on. And Jews (and by extension, Israelis) have learned hard lessons throughout history. One of the hardest to accept is that forgiveness must sometimes be given even when it is not asked for, even when it is spurned. I sincerely hope that that the Arabs do not have to learn such lessons as dearly.

    LA guy,

it is a very sad and difficult situation. the best solution is to (and we almost got there 4 years ago) negotiate the best solution for every body looking forward as to what will be best for the future generations. and it is doable.

unfortunatly, the arabs have been living with a feeling of injustice for 50 years, and have avery strong cultural drive for what they see as justice. that is why you keep hearing speeches about "peace with justice" and "the peace of the brave". for them it is vevery very hard to put behind the idea that they were screwed.

on the other hand, Israel was screwed, too. and you can't reasonably ask a country to agree that it' very creation was a wrong commited on another people as a pre-requesite to starting peace talks...

I started a MBTI thread a year or so ago, but I think it got erased when then board was having problems and J was clearing things out.

Err.. sorry. I'm kind of interested to take that test. Where does one do that? This thread may have the all time most-hijacked record, BTW.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but there actually is a very good web site that focuses on geeks' dating needs. It's at www.gk2gk.com.

They also have, in the top ten list, the top ten reasons why geeks make the best lovers. It's kind of funny, but actually a pretty good list.

I wonder if there's ever anyone on the other end of those who actually follows through on the board? Doubt it.

Okay, either you guys have been watching Revenge of the Nerds too often, or are all in the under 16 group. Besides, it's very cool to be a nerd. Every model, artist, musician, professional, academic (okay, we really were nerds), essentially any non-"American Jackass" I know claims to have been a "nerd" in high school. In fact, the biggest social sin would be to admit to having been a football/basketball/lacrosse player or cheerleader in high school.

Well as long as we're reviving this thread - I have to say, I resemble this remark!
