i've got a pair that's very similar. and if they are like mine, they're actually pigskin, and not cow leather. i would highly recommend them. a few years ago, actors like brad pitt, jake gyllenhaal, etc. were searching (or made their assistants search) the ends of the earth to get their feet into them.
I've always wondered about those boots w/the harness strap under the sole. Seems impractical; I can envision it tearing while climbing the Himalayas or kicking teeth, or even something more pedestrian like walking over logs. I never liked it.
