Ikea is definitely out. I want something more durable than that for my bed.

Budget is up to $2k and ideally less than $1.5k. One of my old classmates' mother works at Crate and Barrel and he said I could get a discount through her. I think 20%. Other than there, I'm not sure where to look e.g. online.

Also, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for in terms of design or even color/type of the wood; dunno how many options I'd have at my budget anyway. All I know is that I don't want a four poster bed cause they've never appealed to me.

Thanks.

Room and Board is a step above Crate and Barrel and still within your price range.

Try Scott Jordan, it specializes in very clean line Shaker, Mission & New England designs with solid hard wood construction.

^ Cheers. I also found this site http://www.charlesprogers.com suggested on here. Seem to have a huge selection and they sound like they are good quality.

I have the Room and Board Monica bed. This thing is as solid as they come. Really well built. The website really leaves something to be desired, once you see them in the store, you can tell the quality is really good.
