My current overcoats are a little too fitted and as a result don't fit over a suit.

I'm looking for an overcoat that will fit over a suit, but is still somewhat trim or at least stylish in some way. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to shop.

Wear jacket.

Try on overcoats with jacket.

Find one that fits.

Purchase.

In all seriousness, saying what jacket fits you best is about as useful as me saying which Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Bean's was my favourite.

I'm sure you meant that constructively so thanks for the suggestion! But I'm more interested in if anyone has an overcoat e.g. a particular model of RL Purple Label that has worked well for them in this fashion.

overcoats are by nature designed to go over a jacket. Find one that fits you properly (e.g. over your suit) and go from there.

Do you like any of your current overcoats? Why didn't you buy them to fit over a suit? That is what they are designed to do. I would look for one in the style that you have you like the best and get a larger size.

How about losing weight, buy new (smaller sized suits) and keep your current overcoat.

It should now fit just right over your new suit and body.:nodding:

I made the mistake of buying my current overcoats (Prada and D-Squared) based more on the look than functionality. I did not try them on over a coat when I bought them. Perhaps if I had sized up one they would have worked as true overcoats.

It is unfortunate because they do fit great as long as I'm not wearing anything heavier than a sweater.

I absolutely agree. Don't be afraid to try on a few styles to see which best suits you.
