Need Suggestions for First Plunge into Bespoke in the D.C. Area

I’m ready to have a few key pieces made bespoke—a blazer and greys, and a navy or charcoal three-piece suit.

I need to find a good bespoke value near the D.C. area. Ideally, I’d like to find something in the $1500-$2000 range (two-piece suit).

While I know that I cannot expect miracles in that price range, I am looking for a fit that is beyond reproach, decent and sturdy—if not world-class—fabrics, and a timeless cut.

I know about Baytok, Field, and all of the less-than-ideal MTM programs in the area--I either can't afford the pricey options, or want better than the MTM options. From posting and lurking on these boards, and reading all of the other standard iGent materials online for the past 5 years, I am beginning to think that W.W. Chan is my best bet; however, I would love to find someone local—does anyone have any suggestions?

Based on my own search in the DC area, I don't think you will find local bespoke in that price range. I ended up going to Will Field at considerably more per suit, and William Fox and Co for Samuelsohn MTM in the range of $1200-$1800.

Hector's tailoring in Rockville. He's extremely talented-- the only tailor in the area that my mother will trust for reweaving-- and usually very timely.

Longhorn - What has your experience with Sammy MTM been like w/ Fox doing the fitting? Their MTM has always intrigued me--it seems less prone to the inconsistencies and poor make that many MTM programs are.

Subtley - Can you provide more details? What sort of house cut does Hector do? Is this truely bespoke (dedicated pattern, zero styling limitations, etc.)? What sort of fabrics does he offer and at what sort of price points?

The last time I took a jacket in, Hector's suggestions ultimately resulted in a completely new article of clothing. He keeps pretty up-to-date on modern styles RE: the house cut. Being 18, I can't give you any more information than what I've heard from my tailoring, and my parents/their friends' experiences with bespoke clothing. I know that he offers Brioni, Loro Piana, Zegna, and some of the Savile Row house fabrics for shirting and suiting.
