I am 6' 0" with an athletic build with very long arms. Basically I need a 41 suit with long arms. As you can imagine this is impossible to find. 40L is too small. 42R is not long enough in the arms. 42L is too long in the body.

I don't think I will be able to afford to get custom made suits. My question then is, would it be better to:
(A) Get the 42R and get the arms lengthened -or-
(B) Get the 42L and get it shortened.

Or does anyone have any recommendations on a suit that may fit a freak like me.

Lengthening the arms would be preferable to shortening the whole coat, as long as there is enough fabric in the sleeves to make them as long as you need.

A and B seem a little risky, maybe have another look at the tailored option.
