Need shoes for shorts. Summer.

Hey mates I know it's approaching winter over there, but downunder it's just getting into Summer (think 100+ degrees F) over here.

I just got these pretty mad checkered blue shorts from Ben Sherman, but have not many footwear items (bar thongs).

I was just browsing ebay, and these caught my eye: (my exact size, too.)

What do you all think? Good to go, sockless?

And would there be problems wearing these with straight-leg jeans? Would they look a little thin?

I think they'd look better with pants than with shorts.

Yea, but it's hard to wear denim in the summer. I don't like sweating all day either. I'd say those would look pretty spot on. You can usually wear slip ons like those, vans, chuck slip ons or normal chucks. I've seen grey, white, off-white chucks worn with shorts and a nice outfit and they looked good for shoes with shorts. Not really sure what other shoes would work though.

Sperry top siders are where it's at. Get them in green and wear them out for ultimate old-money preppiness.

Do the shoes need to be shoe-shoes? You can't go wrong with leather flip-flops or slides and shorts.

Yeah, I'd prefer shoes, I already have a few pairs of havaianas, and I will probably buy some leather ones also.

Shoes are necessary in this case, to go out (some places dont let you in without closed shoes), and I think I'd prefer laces with these type of shoes anyway.
