I'll be wearing this sweater

I want to put a shirt/tie under it. I know it's black and white and I can pretty much wear anything with it, but want something extra sharp. I have tons of shirts and ties in different colors so any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Also, what color pants, black or dark gray?

I will not be wearing a jacket.

Light blue shirt, red tie. Is khaki acceptable for the pants?

I guess it depends. If you do a pattern, it would have to be subtle. I don't think something big and loud would work with just the top peaking out from the neck of the sweater. It also depends on the shirt. If you're wearing a striped shirt, I would go with a solid or pindot neck tie, definitely no stripes with those diamonds. Now that I think about it, purple on purple would probably be pretty nice too. I suppose that in the interest of full disclosure I should note I don't really wear sweaters with any regularity, so take this advice with a grain of salt.

I actually have a very nice purple shirt/tie. I'll try it on and see how it looks.

There is already much action on the shirt in terms of patterns and lines, so if you want to wear an additional shirt/tie underneath its best to choose something plain, perhaps a plain white shirt and plain dark grey tie, also a black on black shirt/tie would go well. For pants I recommend black or dark grey as well.

Thanks guys. I think I'm either going with the blue shirt/black tie or something else in blue. It seems to look the best.
