I own a pair of Brooks Brothers brown whiskey color peble grain leather boots. I wanted to make them water resistant and applied mink oil on them. That has darkend the leather and made the color uneven with spots. Is there any way to either even out the color or return it back to original state?

Applying 100% mink oil to leather shoes or boots will make them very waterproof, however it changes the finish pretty permanately. I would say the only thing you can do at this point is use more mink oil on the lighter spots to even it out more, or maybe even some Saphir Renovateur to even out the color. the Reno has mink oil in it, but also, shea butter, and some other natural ingrediants than can act as a slight solvent to loosen up and smooth out the old finish.
