So I just started working for my coop work term, and will be interested in buying a suit sometime this summer. I'm a skinny asian guy, 5'8, 130 lbs or so. I'm mainly looking for slim suits since I think they will fit me best, but I have like no knowledge of suits or anything so I figured I would ask you guys. My budget is 1100$ for a suit and shoes, and the one problem I have is that I live in Canada (Vancouver) so it isn't really accessible to many brands. I was planning on going to Harry Rosen to have a look there, and possbily Holts. I guess I want something to look like th efollowing:

So what are some brands that you guys suggest for a slim suit in that price range? Thanks a lot, much appreciated!

I'm not a slim-suit guy, but I hear great things (and am a closet admirer of) ThickAsThieves: http://www.thickasthievesla.com/lookbook.html At one time I believe they were an SF supporter (may still be) and I've seen a lot of slim suit'ers give them high marks. Do a search on here and you'll find a lot of reviews and commentary.

Etro (Harry Rosen), Paul Smith (Holt), Z Zegna (Both). If you want to go for less quality and more money, Armani, DG and Gucci although these might easily surpass your limit.

Not traditionally a slim suit, Samuelsohn (aka Tilford) is available at Rosen and other places in your price range. Probably the only full canvas suit, although I think Paul Smith mainline/London might be full canvas construction.

Since you are not in a rush, if you are planning any trips to the US I highly recommend you buy one there.

Hmm, is there anything in the Seattle district that you could recommend? That's the farthest I'll drive to (~3 hours)
