Hello everyone,
I got this pair of balmain jeans on eBay. Seller claimed it was bought from Harrods a couple of years ago.
I emailed balmain's customer service and the ref matches Balmain used black denim from spring 2012.
I also checked, as i was surprised, that Balmain does make 10% elastane pants.
I'm still doubting authenticity.
Could you please help ?
Thanks a lot

Perhaps a more appropriate place for this thread would be in the Streetwear and Denim forum.

Thank you. I thought I put it in the streetwear forum. My mistake.

I see that's where it is now.

Maybe I made the mistake, in thinking it was in Classic. If so, my apologies.

'Fraid not.

I'm just barely aware of the existence of Balmain, and I rarely opt to wear jeans, so I'm just not your "go to" guy for this one.

But why, exactly, do you doubt their authenticity? I mean, was the eBay seller notably shady? Do you think Balmain customer service was incompetent when you dealt with them? Something's got to be causing you to wonder, so I'm just curious what that something is.

i used to have what i think was that exact pair, they look just fine to me. if you've checked with balmain and everything lines up, the real issue's probably why you're buying stuff that makes you insecure to begin with. i mean at this point you've checked with the company itself which presumably knows more than random internet people, so what COULD possibly prove their authenticity to you? christophe decarnin signing a certificate of provenance?

To say the truth, here is what seems wrong to me :
-the back tag is not perfectly sewn
-lampo zipper makes me doubtful (the placement of the letters)
-there is a mistake spelling elastane : "elastine" is not a fabric but a protein ...
So it's either a fake or balmain is a lot less careful than i thought.

I'm also very interested in knowing how different people make their legit checks.
There are some brands that I know enough to not go wrong (Thom Browne, Dior Homme, ...) but I'm definitely a Balmain noob.

The seller seemed fine (around 80 100% positive feedbacks) but had terrible communication and made many "little white lies".

Thanks a lot for your feedback.
It confirms my doubts.
If others have advice on recognizing authentic Balmain jeans for online purchases it will also help me, and maybe others :)
