Hello all. I have several pairs of dress pants in my closet that I've had for a few years. I don't wear dress pants very often since I wear scrubs to work. I'm realizing all of my dress pants have pleats in them and I'd like to update my pants by getting some flat front pairs I can keep for a long time. I've seen both wool and polyester pants in stores. My question: Is polyester totally wrong for men's dress pants? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

say no to polyester. buy natural fibers like wool and cotton.

Not sure what your size is, but jhcam8 is selling some really nice Ralph Lauren Black Label trousers on the Buying and Selling forum:

Don't dismiss synthetics entirely, there is a German pant line called Alberto that makes a decent pant out of a high tech synthetic, passes for wool and has great temperature control properties. They can be had in traditional flat front dress pant or the five pocket jean cut. Another firm called Brax sells pretty much the same thing.

look in the buy/sell at all the incotex pairs, you may find something you like at a very good price/quality ratio!

Recently I have been doing something similar to you - retiring my pleated Dockers and upgrading my wardrobe... you may want to try Zanella pants - I've picked up a few pairs recently at Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off Fifth, and Neiman Marcus last call.

They are easy to find at those stores, and you should be able to find something that's a flat front. IMO, they have good build and materials quality. I picked mine up for anywhere from $120-$140 (50%-60% off.)

Good luck!

Look for slim fitting dress pants such as Incotex and Mabitex (my new fav).
