Hey SF!

I'm new, and really astounded by how stylish some of the users are here, and frankly a bit intimidated to be asking for advice.

I've been doing research these last couple of days, planning on purchasing a brown derby/blucher shoe in the $500 - $700 range. I feel a nice brown shoe would be casual and versatile enough to go well with a good amount of outfits.

I was originally looking into AEs, then Aldens, but threads from the search bar have been recommending Vass, then Carmina in terms of bang for buck in that price range. I believe their shoes are hand-welted which makes them more admirable and desirable.

The only dress shoe I have to compare it to is a black, grainy shoe from Bali which is sized US 8EEE / UK 7F. I went inside an AE store and got measured on a brannock device for 8EEE. I tried on a shoe that was sized 7.5EEE, but it was a bit tight.

Right now, I don't really know much about Vass's lasts, and whether inseam measurements should be a factor when choosing a shoe. I've heard the F lasts and the 3636 are the widest, though. I also don't know much about U.S. distributors either. I've looked at threads and people have been saying there is an SF user that sends contact info of a US-based Vass representative via PMs. Info about that would be great, but I'd really like to hear from people from the site, especially those acquainted with Vass, and if they could share any advice regarding Vass or simply shoes in general. (I've been leaning towards these) -> http://www.vass-cipo.hu/Eng/Modellek_02_AltWienEsTheresianer/Modell_02_021_Nagy.html
