Need help picking a shirt to wear with my new JPress bowtie

So I just got a bowtie as an early birthday present from my cousin to wear to my Fraternity's formal in a couple weeks and I need help deciding on a shirt to wear with it.

Thinking about a gingham shirt to wear with it. Either way I want to stand out from the rest of my friends. What do you guys think?

One unique item at a time. Under-doing it is better than over-doing it.

I love J Press, and chuckle when I think a marketing slogan could be "making Brooks Brothers look trendy for 100 years." Pair that tie with a solid light blue or white shirt or a very muted (like VERY light blue over white) tattersall. Gingham might be "too much."

Just IMO.
