Hi there. I'm new to the forum so I would really appreciate your advice on this. I am looking for used suits and recently came across these options at similar price range ($150-$200). Which one would you recommend? Thanks!
  • Brooks Brothers 1818 Saxxon
  • Hickey Freeman Milburn II
  • Canali Prospecta
  • Canali
  • Gieves Hawkes (USA-made, seems to be made by HF)
I did refer to Styleforum's hierarchy of suit, but it doesn't seem to address the different lines of each brand.

Canali mainline is nicer than proposta (which you probably want to avoid). All of the other options are decent in their own way, choose whatever fits you best among the recent suits in good condition, and if two fit equally well you can choose on the basis of quality.

Canali is the best-made of those, in my view, but as the previous poster noted, you should choose whatever looks the best on your physique. Suits from different makers have very different cuts. Even suits from the same maker have different cuts. Canali mainline, for instance, has at least three different cuts (11000, 13000, 15000), only one of which fits my proportions well

Thank you! I did have a Canali blazer (13000 cut) but I feel like it’s a bit boxy with too much shoulder padding. It’s an old model though (brown Canali label). The suit in question is also 13000 cut but is the newer model (Grey label). Am I correct to assume the newer one should be more slim and less padding?

For reference, I really like the fit of BB Fitzgerald. Which one of the Canali cuts would be closest to that?

15000 is their slimmer cut. 13000 is in the middle, and 11000 is very boxy
