so i am nothing but a lowly office worker with no idea of how the outside world affects the american dollar.

so knowing that, is this stimulus package going to affect the current value of the dollars to pounds? i am in the market for some C&J belgraves and pediwear pricematched me at $392. im wondering if i should buy now or does someone with some currency prediction experience think i should wait the dollar out some more and possible save some money or possible risk that the pounds going to rise and im going to be paying more money?

If people actually knew the answer to that, they'd be rich. If you believed them, it would make more sense to put all your money in a currency trade than to use the information only for the purposes of buying C&Js.

I wouldn't wait expecting to get a big improvement on the cost of the shoes. Prices will be adjusted for currency shifts in general. You may be able to score some discounting, but trying to time it is just a huge hassle.

That said, the US is actively devaluing the dollar, but its not entirely reflected in the exchange rates. Largely because foreign capital has temporarily shifted to government bonds as a "safe haven".

without getting into currency fluctuation, <$400 seems like a good price on C&J handgrades, imo.

I have 2 pairs of Polo Bentons which are rebranded C&J Belgraves. I like them very much.

Get it. That's 50% off retail what you would pay at Turnbull & Asser.

If you're worried about that then you can't afford the shoes.

That's kind of a ridiculous statement. There's nothing wrong with wanting to get the best price for something and timing the purchase accordingly.

There is simply no way to know. Personally I think it is a good time to buy.

+1. If you will get satisfaction and happiness buying now and wearing them for years to come, what's saving an extra $10-30 (which is probably all you'll save if there is continued fluctuation with the pound)? No one can predict whether the pound will drop to 1.25 or less. If you mentally tell yourself you know you are getting a good deal and that you don't care if the pound drops, you're in good shape not to worry about it later.

THIS is not true.

I don't know how many times I said to myself "ok, now THIS pair of shoes is going to complete my collection....no more shoes for me!!" It never quite worked out that way.

I say you pull the trigger....remember, with Pediwear, there's going to be a bit of a lag between your order time and when you receive them. From what I understand, it's in the 3-4 week range.

The sooner you buy them, the sooner they'll get here.

I agree, but the OP didn't say anything along the lines of "completes" which most of us know all too well is fool's gold. He just said he would enjoy them. Can't argue with that.

Seems like a good price so I'd say buy them. My Belgraves are my favorite shoes and fit/feel like a dream.

Other than better selection is there any distinct advantage to buying C&J shoes in England vs. buying them from an internet retailer (plal, pediwear, etc.)?

I only ask as I'm planning to visit the UK this spring and am considering the purchase of some shoes. I am trying to make the determination as to whether I should indulge myself now, or be patient and wait for the trip.

Any advice appreciated.

If you don't have a pair on the same last as the one you want to buy nothing beats being able to try them on and to see how they fit and look on your feet.
