I am looking for the perfect pair of casual cotton chinos. You know, the kind you look forward to throwing on simply because their just so comfy. Maybe I should try J-Crew, but I was looking for something with just a bit more construction. Would love to get some suggestions.

Only you know your body - no one else here does so perhaps you had better develop some confidence in your own judgement rather rapidly

Save Khaki and Bills Khakis makes some great ones. I find Save Khaki to be softer, but Bills to be more durable.

J. Crew makes a great cotton chino--slim cut, substantial cloth, and not nearly as wrinkle-prone as others I've tried.

Incotex are beautifully made, but understandably pricier than J. Crew. Their chino-lineo line is great for warmer months. The linen contributes a nice fluidity to the pants.

Quite possibly this is the dumbest comment I have read to date. This is an internet forum so I will take it with a grain of salt. You do realize this is the style forum don't you? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who has ever asked for a recommendation. Perhaps you can tell me what confidence has to do with a general recommendation on pant construction.

Jacksdad has a point, but I'll admit it - I had a good chuckle at GBR's response.

i just picked up some beautiful Borrelli khaki-colored cotton trousers (that's what i believe chinos are but my n00bness doesn't know exactly what the definition is). it fits fairly slim and has that wonderful rich-feeling cotton that i've only seen thus far on a Kiton.

i guess Borrelli is about the same full retail price as a Kiton, but in my experience it's more readily available at a significant discount

I used to work with Bill's Khaki, and recently bought a pair out of nostalgia. I have to say the quality has dropped. The feel of the fabric used has really dropped, and they seem to be targeting the upper middle class, upper middle aged golfer set. Plus they started to show signs of wear pretty quickly.

Suggest you check out Mountain Khaki. Pretty bomb proof, and the fabric for the Teton Twill is closer to the fabric used in the all time classic WWII US officer military button fly khakis. While they are a bit "techy" you can dress them up with a sharp crease ironing. Also a percentage of the profits go to evironmental causes.

As in 200+ pairs of Incotex on B&S- this is the biggest hoard of Incotex
on B&S I've ever seen. It dwarfs the Incotex frenzy of 08.
