Depending on where you are going in europe, buy the sneakers the you get here.

with that said GAT or NB are the way to go.

    how about vans?

honestly dude my vans are not that comfy. they are just canvas uppers which don't really provide much support. fine for walking to class in, but I wouldn't want to buy them as a shoe for walking, you know?

as much as I hate NBs, they are made for walking/running and now that they are sf approved would probably fit the bill better than canvas shoes.

Wear something timeless like sneakers worn by the greeks or something, wouldn't want to be caught dead wearing fashion.

If you can get hold of them, get a pair of last year's Common Projects 5 hole vans. The bi-colored ones are not that versatile, but I have the pair in the all light grey. The nappa leather is really soft, but durable enough, and they are remarkably comfortable for both tramping around in, and for loafing in. I really like my CP Achilles and captoes, but for comfort, those are what you want. They also allow your feet to breath much better than do Margiela sneakers, which will be a factor.

I second the CP 5 hole rec. I have the all blue version, and they are super comfortable. Achilles are great looking, but they destroy my feet without socks.

Vans are about the most uncomfortable sneakers on earth. I have high arches, and Eras and Authentics both feel like my feet are in a vise. lol.

Yep, 5 Hole Slip Ons. First one that popped into my head, but that's probably because I'm looking for a pair right now because of their versatility and they've been on my mind all day as I search all the usual places haha. So clean. I was pleasantly surprised to look at this thread and see that some others agree. Someone offered me them in a trade last year and now that Spring has rolled around I regret not making that deal...

I guess comfort is in the eye of the beholder. I've got tons of shoes / boots / slippers / socks that my feet have graced and nothing are as comfortable as my beat up red low mmm's.

Free+ are the best running shoes. I've got those and the vibram 5s, and I like the nike's better.
