Need a good quality black lace up

Hi Everyone,

Well, after a long, tough year (laid off from one job, got a another job, got laid off again) I'm in the process of interviewing again. I need to find a good quality, black, 8.5US sized lace up. I'd prefer to stick to something good quality (Goodyear welt)...money may be short but I have to make a good impression, and I've read repeatedly that shoes are a focal point during the interview phase. Any opinions or leads on some good quality shoes would be appreciated. I'm finding it difficult to find anything reasonable (quality and price) where I live (Canada). There just doesn't seem to be a market for good quality shoes up here, so internet sources might work best, but if they allow telephone sales with shipping that would work also.

Are these sold in the USA or only on Herring Shoes website? How does the fit run? Narrow or wide?

I bought them from Herring's website (I don't recall the shipping costs to the US, but they weren't too bad) and ordered a UK 9F (medium). I have a US 9.5 D foot, and they fit me quite well.

Allen Edmonds Fifth Avenue. The brouging adds a little interest, and it's still formal enough for anything outside of a black tie event.

Shipton and Heneage offers reasonably good value on fine footwear. IMO, their top line shoes are better quality dress shoes than any made in the U.S. While at $375 US they're not cheap, they're still a decent value. Their low-end line is now made in Italy, and are Blake stitched rather than Goodyear, but they're still pretty good value for the money. The shoes are UK sized, but S&H does well at interpolating your U.S. size to the proper UK size in any particular style.

Any Cole Haan lace up is good for about $200 (sometimes as low as $100 on sale so look around)
