1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

The last time I went overseas I had my iPhone unlocked so I could use local SIM cards, and when I got back and updated the software it bricked the phone. So I won't be doing that again. Can anyone recommend a phone with the following features -- can use all over Europe, has a usable keyboard, and has a map function that will allow me to preload maps so I won't be eating up data downloading map info on the fly (which I believe Google maps does?) Don't care about chatting or Twitter integration or any of that.

    Thanks all

I used an unlocked Xperia x1 on my last overseas trip. It was alright and did all the basics (made calls, had GPS/maps, etc.) but it was WinMo and generally just a piece of shit. Interface was horrid and it was probably one of the slowest phones I've ever used.

Considering just picking up an unlocked iPhone 4S... kind of pricey, but probably worth it.
