Going to a wedding in October somewhere where it’ll be kind of hot.
Will probably wear my mid-grey tropical wool suit. Don’t know if I’ll go with black or brown loafers (probably brown).
The shirt will probably be a white cotten/linen shirt.

Weirdly, I can’t figure out a tie to not be too boring (a blue grenadine would make me look like someone interviewing for a job, no?).

Any help regarding colours, brands, etc, appreciated.

I think if the wedding is informal enough to wear loafers, I'd go with brown.
Regarding the tie, why not a lighter color like a sage green, or a light blue? I can see it looking good with mid-grey tropical wool.

I don't understand why tie manufacturers don't equip ties with lining that extends all the way down to the larger blade of a tie?! This creates visible fold line imprints on the front of the tie.

This is a desired look for some people. I think it’s called untipped, and is popular in Europe. I don’t care for it. Just keep the style in mind when selecting your next tie.

Nothing prevents them to have a liner go all the way to the bottom in an untipped ties. I went through all of my ties and only the ones made by Poszetka are done properly!

I don’t know if this is the best place to ask this question, but here goes:

- Where can one buy shorter ties? (In Europe preferably.)

It seems like most ties are ~150cm as standard, but I’m a slim guy who wears high waisted trousers and around 140-143cm works best for me. I’ve acquired a lot of vintage ties, but have no luck in finding new ones in the shorter lengths.

I’ve shortened a quite a few myself, but for things like grenadine and woven ties, this is not an option, and very hard to come buy on the second hand market. I know there’s some MTM options out there, but a bit too pricey for me.

Any tips? Thanks.

Shibumi does have 140cm as RTW for some of their designs, they can also do custom lengths (but different designs).

My go to place for custom sizes is Patrizio Cappelli.

I am not sure, but you can reach out to Poszetka and ask them if they can make you shorter ties. They have their own atelier, so it should not be a problem for them to offer you any of their existing designs in a shorter length.

Thanks, I love Shibumi designs, have to look into those. Also, thanks for reminding me about Patrizio Cappelli, I totally forgot about them. I think I found my answer! Thank you.

Cappelli is great, Brunati Como too. Both offer their bespoke service albeit Cappelli offers a lot more options with cloth.

It depends on the fabric of both the jacket and the tie. What is it?
I have a blazer in tropical merino wool and another that is 80% wool and 20% mohair. The ties would be silk grenadine or wool.

FWIW, this would be paired with charcoal trousers and black shoes. Woolen flannels in the colder months and a worsted tropical wool pair in the warmer months.
