I ran into this guy in the Village yesterday, he was selling these beautiful 8 foot necktie sculptures. They looked really cool. We started talking and come to find out the guy has made doing this for years and has made pieces for everyone from Ralph Lauren to Robert Talbott.

His name is Nicholas Daddazio, what do you think of his work?

At first I thought he actually used neckties to create his sculptures and thought that could be cool.
But they do look pretty cool. They have to be far more impressive in person being 8 feet. The pictures on the website don't seem to do them justice.

The best part is, he does use real neckties in all his sculptures. I am not sure what the process is called, but he incases them in metal.

That's what I love, every piece is a real tie.

Every piece is a real tie, yet they're 8 feet high? Does he use the BFG's ties or something

Actually, they are real ties. He makes real ties that are up to 8 feet tall.

No lie.

He probably starts with real ties, but then they make a mold of the tie and then pour the bronze into the mold, so the tie is gone by the time it's on your desk. Those are cool. He doesn't have any of the big ones on his website though, at least not in the section that's linked to. I'd like the rep tie for a desk, but think of all of the shoes or actual ties I could buy with that kind of dough. You'll have to get one when you open your storefront Charles. Maybe one as a door pull on the front door.

haha, God willing. If I make it to a position where I can open a store I'll give always give SF members a free tie and a discount for helping me get there.
