Neapolitan tailor Renato Ciardi coming to the US

For those who may be interested, renowned Neapolitan tailor Renato Ciardi is planning to do a tour in the Untied States. Ciardi, as many here know, trained under Angelo Blasi, but then went on to adopt a very soft, light approach to tailoring.

Thirty slots are available for reservation. I believe most of the tour is taking place in California, but Enzo, the gentleman who is organizing the tour, tells me they may go out to NYC as well. The first appointment will take place sometime at the end of October, but details are probably best confirmed with Enzo. Measurements will be taken by Renato's son, Vincenzo, and the cutting will be done by both gentlemen. The three fittings are also scheduled to take place over the course of ninety days, so it will be a quick tour.

Prices start at $6,700 per suit and $5,400 per sport jacket. CMT is unfortunately not available. ^ I think some of the Ashin Boyzs' "Mystery Bespoke Tailor" have aesthetics (e.g. lapels, shoulders, sleeves) that are very similar to the ones dieworkwear posted on his site of Ciardi.

That being said, $6,700 is very high - he charges 2,500 euros in Naples iirc.

FYI if anyone's interested, my neighbor Leroy will begin his US tour later this month. He was classically trained in Palermo via countless generations of tailors, so the craft runs through his blood and shimmers through his eyes. The style of his cut is instantly recognizable by those in the know, but please do not try to pinpoint it with any specific or concrete descriptions; it's inexplicable. His tour will begin in his rustic, fragrant, basement studio in a charming corner of the Bronx, and will conclude on the west coast in a vintage Compton warehouse accompanied by a wine tasting.

Leroy is so skilled, in what you may know as 'rock of eye,' that fittings are not necessary. CMT is prohibited, discerning gentlemen know to trust Leroy. Lapel widths, gorge heights, waist suppression, and armscye size are all chosen by Leroy, ...please note this is a 'bespoke' experience that 'develops over time,' and therefore you must order a minimum of 5 suits before he will allow you to make these requests.

Leroy will personally measure and compliment you, but his assistant Shaneequa will do the real magic behind the scenes. Prices start at $8400 for suits, reservations are limited. Emails with technical inquiries will be answered sufficiently vaguely and with proper delay. Please understand Leroy is a busy man and the gentleman would do well not to fuss.

That is an incredibly high price.

If he really charges only half that in Naples, it seems a bit cynical...

Of potential interest: Sartoria Ciardi is coming to visit the US again. There's going to be an event with Ferrari (I think they're fitting Ferrari customers) for a day, and then the following four days, they'll be fitting other customers.

There will be two visits in the Bay Area, one on April 20th and another on May 30th. There will also be a visit to Fort Lauderdale on June 21st.
