i did not foresee vince carter slipping seamlessly into the role of the satisfied wily vet who knows his role, does the dirty work, and helps team chemistry.

In hindsight (although perhaps not in the moment), I'm not surprised. In his prime, he always seemed to be slightly uncomfortable with the notion of hoisting the team on his back.

Somehow that video led me to watching Kermit Washington punching Rudy Tomjanovich so hard he apparently tasted spinal fluid in his mouth

    I loved this:

According to Bill Gutman's Tales from the 1969-70 New York Knicks, afterwards Reed warned his teammates to never restrain him if he were in a fight. Apparently Reed had been hit with a bottle while in college because a teammate was restraining him, and he essentially told them they were liable to be decked if they tried it again.

Good to see the season finally starting back up again in a week!

Lets get some predictions going! East? West? Champs? Repeat? MVP? RoY?

This is true for anyone who's gotten involved in a brawl on the court (or anywhere else, I supposed). Getting restrained just leaves your guard open to taking a few shots without being able to defend yourself

What we used to do is let the combatants do their thing and pull them apart once they both inevitably hit the deck

I agree with everything Steve B said. I think this year might go to Clippers tho. At the very least it's their best chance

I've seen Chris Paul pull of the exact same move on a guy playing off the screen, cross, lunge hard and step back but on the other side of the court
