I tip my hat to Mario Chalmers for the play of the game.

well the real life perspective is pretty jarring compared to watching from a camera way up high

bosh was so useful on offense today. games like this prevent me from clearly elevating ibaka above him.

lebron was a goddamn god, fuck. wonder how the games are gonna go if he isn't on fire from outside like he was tonight.

game 2 felt like game 1 to me, except SA and MIA's roles were reversed. MIA was behind by a little for most of the early game, but SA was playing a lot better, so I felt MIA would come back and win in the 4th. Same deal w/ SA in game 1.

Lol. The bitches still won't stop bitching.

Spurs are just too good. Their precision is terrifying, like the Wehrmacht. Seems like you have to be damn near perfect as well as lucky to beat them. Which is why I was surprised how the 'analysts' had so much criticism for them postgame. I honestly didn't see it, I thought the only avoidable plays they had were Kawhi getting in foul trouble and the four missed foul shots

spurs offense was stagnant in the 4th quarter, but otherwise they were cruising along pretty well

the ginobili, parker straight up isos on bad match ups were pretty terrible. the lebron on parker adjustment was so good

(not really directed at anyone in particular)

sometimes teams just lose. today's game was played so phenomenally on both sides, it's a shame to always have to blame someone. aaron rodgers says this all the time, though i'm sure he didn't start it: the other guys get paid to play the game too. yea they missed a bunch of free throws, etc, but mia started switching on the perimeter all of a sudden which surprised them, and they played very good d, it happens.

i really want this series to go long...

SA didn't adjust early enough to all the pressure in the paint, followed by foul trouble. Then Bosh wasn't dealt with well. SA needs to make a few adjustments.

Miami's defense is not as good as last season. I think this will eventually be the difference maker.

Imo they just missed tons of makable shots, along with 4 big freethrow misses. And last 2 minutes they played worse than Miami, they got worse shots and more importantly didn't make any of them

Of all the previous comments I agree with this the most. In game 1 the Spurs shot almost 60% and better than 50% from three. They were due for a reversion to the mean, although you could argue that the Heat made some effective adjustments as well

Or just that LeBron was actually able to play in this game and had himself a night. As much as I hate him, I have to say that there's not a whole lot you can do (on defense) when he's draining heat-check jumpers left and right...I think your best bet when he's on fire is just to try and out-gun him on the other end of the floor, and the Spurs made a valiant effort of that, but just came up a bit short.

I can't wait until the King has another ring and I can be even more smug.

I adore Kawhi but he needs to play better (foul trouble, aggressive offense, etc.) He's been close to non-existent in this series so far. What happened to the guy who was dunking over OKC at will last week

I can't wait for the King to have another ring, just to ensure Pop doesn't get one. Popovich's anti reporter, glum shtick is grating.

In the second half, yes. But they lost the game in the 1st half. They allowed the Heat to establish themselves inside. In fact, Miami had the rebounding edge. While SA was competitive throughout, they didn't execute in the 2nd half and the cushion they should have tucked away for a cold spell wasn't there.

I think this win is attributed to Miami's adjustments/game plan going in. They got early points in the paint and fouls.

I like Pop. You've got to take his comments as mostly tongue in cheek, and having a little fun with how inherently vacuous and ridiculous sideline sports reporting is. He seems to be friends with some of his regular victims, so they're at least partially in on the joke

this has been a terrific series so far. i disagree about san antonio going stagnant in the last couple of minutes. i think miami just stepped up the defense. this is really beautiful basketball to watch. granted that miami has some really gifted players, but they're playing a much better team game than i expected, too.
still, there's something about lebron. he's like the most awkward-looking superstar i can remember. he's got a lot of power, but very little apparent grace ... and then you go back and look at what he did.
