    suck it, Knicks :p

looks like they're locked into the 2-seed, which means that if they meet the Heat, it will be in the ECF. just like the good old times

last time they met I had a serious falling out with a friend who was a Knicks fan during the series. it's serious biznes

I watched some of Celtics/Nets last night (would not want to play Nets in a series, if they play well, they can beat anyone) and other than KG and PP, I had no idea who any of the other people were  Green is a nice player but is he consistent yet?

Also, I forget which Net but one guy was going to the basket to slam from just below the free throw line, he literally threw the Celtics defender about 10 feet with his off hand and no foul was called. I know the league wants scoring but jesus, give the defenders something. At least bring back hand checking or something.

Kobe -- a point a minute for 48 f*cking minutes? that lillard kid looked great, though. the first half was ridiculous. much like the first three quarters against charlotte. i was at that game and it just looked like the players were going through a particularly boring practice. then kobe scored 27 in the last quarter to pull out the win. out in 6 in the first round, my prediciton.

hopefully Carmelo can break out of his proven playoff futility as having a 16-34 career postseason record (.320)—the worst of any player who has appeared in that many postseason games since 1991-92.

looks like fate might have bit carmelo in the ass this year as well with a dangerous first round pairing with the Celtics. :smarmy:

well, lets give him a bit of a break, he wasn't exactly playing on great teams and George Karl is great at losing in the playoffs, even with great teams (see Seattle vs. Hawks)

JR Smith is so ghetto but at the same time, he obviously listens to his coach, is a good teammate and is relentless on the court. If he averages the 20+ points off the bench in the playoffs, the Knicks will be real tough to beat. There is talk that Wallace might be back soon. Smith, Copeland, Martin, Novak, Wallace is a strong bench and that is assuming that Amare doesn't come back.

JR Smith is the X-factor in a series against Boston. Because Doc River's is going to load the defensive schemes on Melo and let JR try to beat them.

thats basically how Carmelo made it into the 2009 Western Conference Finals - Melo and JR Smith tag teaming with Kenyon martin... sound familiar  ? (OMG THAT WAS 5 FUCKING YEARS AGO I FEEL SO OLD).

i'm afraid second part might be too optimistic. athleticism is lakers' kryptonite this year.

so doc, any insight on what might be going on with steve nash? talking now about "nerve damage" associated with his leg injury and odd-sounding issues with hamstring.

probably dealing w/ back spasms as per usual for steve nash. the other injuries (hip/hamstring) sound like late regular season "injuries" to keep him rested unit/if the playoffs start for him (kind of like the KG "injury" - where he's most likely just resting his knee but is officially listed as an "ankle injury").

steve has been doing the larry bird in 1992 thing: lying on stomach in lieu of sitting on bench on the sidelines for years now. because of his back spasms.

he can sit just fine on the bench when he's got a nice suit on :tounge: though.

I hate to say it - but nash is a liability for the lakers with that current starting 5. Kobe/nash are a minus defensively. The way the Lakers are riding kobe makes me worry for him injury wise going into the playoffs (where he'll play even more minutes probably).
