Harden has to lose some goddamn weight so he's not sucking wind late all the time and not trying at all on D.

HOU needs to get a coach that can run some actual plays in crunch time.

Howard will be Howard and I guess nobody can ever convince him to do P&R rather than posting all the time.

Is Parsons ever gonna be a consistent player??

I like watching POR play a lot but goddamn do they whine to the refs on every single call. Wessy Wes calm the hell down.

He was awful in the first quarter, though. They kept doing isos with Matthews and Batum on him, and those guys would maneuver him around to get to the spot they liked, and just shoot a jumpshot knowing that he wouldn't rise to contest it

I hate West Coast OT games. End so late and then I'm all wired and can't sleep.

Magic said he is willing to buy the Clippers from Sterling. Hope this happens and soon.

David Stern is looking worse and worse even retired. I don't think the Clippers can even overcome this, and its sad because they're legitimate championship contenders.

its so hard... one argument is you cheer for the players on the clippers to win it, but then if they win it it just makes Sterling that much richer.

the players union could theoretically pay for wages of stadium workers and staff if there was a league boycott of the playoffs (even for just a game). that would really send a message.

I think a Clippers boycott could happen if Warriors agree to boycott as well, even for 1 game especially at the Staples Center tomorrow. If Clippers boycotts and forfeits a game then it isn't going to happen because they are trying to stick to their goal. I think it's really hard because ti affect so many people, not just the teammates and coaches and the staff but the fans as well and honestly, I am not sure what it will accomplish. I don't think they can easily and quickly remove Sterling with one boycott (especially since dude seems real stubborn) and it just becomes a bad situation for everyone.

To have a league-wise boycott seems very unlikely though.

Sterling really should leave though and as soon as possible, he is forever tarnished and even if the team doesn't boycott in the playoffs, it'll leave a sour taste in everyone's mouth all summer long and moving to the next season, there really is no getting away from it until Sterling is gone. He is finished, dude should just retire and take the billion+ he'll get for the Clips and disappear.

Would not like to see the league force an owner to sell based on what he says in a private conversation but don't want to turn this into the CEsspool.

On another note, I finally saw the 30for30 about the Pistons. It was discussed earlier in this thread and I think the consensus was that everyone hated Isiah and by default, the Pistons but I have to tell you, I admire that team that won the 2 chips (and should have been 3). I am no Isiah fan but you look at those Pistons teams, they were basically playing 2 NBA caliber scorers along with a bunch of role players. They knew who they were, they applied a system that maximized their talents and they beat two powerhouse star laden dynasty teams (Lakers/Celtics). Those guys lived and breathed basketball in a way that today's players just don't. The game against the Lakers where Isiah score 25 in one quarter on a bad ankle, Laimbeer and Mahorn just dominating inside defensively, a svelte Dumars lighting people up. That was a kick ass, determined, all hands of deck type of team. It was beautiful to watch even if they were all a-holes and played ugly basketball.

^what I loved about the bad boy pistons 30 for 30 was how they really showed the adversity they went through. failing so excruciatingly when so damn close (at the ECF against the celtics then the finals against the lakers the next year). they even had the modern day versions of themselves go through it and you could see the wounds were still raw. the producers really had some balls doing that because they had such good participation from everyone involved.

Ha ha, good luck. Racism vs $? $ almost always wins.

Really wealthy people don't live in the same world others do. My guess is he cares very, very little about this and nobody can really force him to care. And trust me, the other owners won't do shit because they don't want to set precedents on commissioner power.

And so the team boycotts a game? Refuses to play? He can just fine the players, take away their salaries. They can damage the brand all they want, this guy paid $12m for the team. Like he really cares if its value is dented temporarily.

That chick is ugly as fuck, too.

This David West tweet nails it:

Sterling basically articulated Plantation Politics...Make money off the Bucks/Lay with the Women/No Association in Public good or bad

According to court filings, Sterling paid about $2m in total, to hit it. So congrats V, you're probably the world's highest paid at something, which is more than most of us can say

magic is a smart guy and i think this has been in the back of his mind since his first tweet. he supposedly has had a standing offer to buy the lakes if the buss family decides to sell and has an investment group already lined up (mostly same guys with the dodgers).
much as i despise sterling, i agree with ed, that i don't think this is something the league should get into, rules-wise. they should (and i believe have) speak out very strongly about it and let the publicity chips fall where they may.
i feel very sorry for the players ... this is a good team and a great bunch of guys to watch. they definitely didn't feel it Sunday (after the demonstration), but hopefully they'll be able to put it behind them and move forward next game.
sterling is a true POS, and always has been. he's on of those singularly pathetic people -- enormously rich and still desperately worried about what other people think of him. i honestly don't know whether he is racist or not. when you look at the quotes, what he was worried about was other people calling him after she'd posted the pictures. his previous actions have been similar -- he doesn't hate black people, he hates anyone who is not a rich white person. not that that makes it any better, just a slightly different color of turd.

This all makes sense. But I don't think being stupid, insecure, and classist precludes his also being racist.
You're right that the particular statement that is the current focus of attention seems concerned with appearances. But even putting aside the kind of underlying assumptions that would cause him to fear that others might think badly of someone who publicly associates with black people, he has a long history of comments and actions that demonstrate a deeply bigoted attitude toward black people -- in a way that is different from his views about otherwise similarly-situated white folks.
