Well, it is what it is and if you want to keep track of the league on a nightly basis, it is much better than ESPN especially if you want to focus on the NBA.

They do not have much original programming but the Dream Team, Magic/Bird Rivalry, Dr. J, etc... docs were all great and a must see. Well those were probably ESPN docs but they air it at NBA TV often.

it's one thing for a talented team to play up to its abilities or even beyond for one highlight game, such as the detested heat. It's another thing entirely for them to perform at close to that level for the 60-65 games it takes to do well in the nba. and it's even MORE of another thing when that team has carmelo, amare and jr smith on it!

Carmelo has been a rock this year. Typically avoid the guy in drafts and dislike watching him play but he is playing his best basketball this year. Become a better rebounder, his fg% is up, stayed relatively healthy. 3rd best SF this year, tied with George :D

weird fact... shaq, in his whole career, never led the league in rebounds or blocks in one season. Not once.

He wasn't even close when in rebounds, when he was averaging his highest rebound of 13pg season, Rodman was pulling close to 20pg iirc.

No way melo is top 5

Durant, James, Anthony Davis, Chris Paul is a top 4 lock in

After that you'd have to argue melo is better than curry, love, and George which is not happening.

Melo probably wouldn't even make my list of this years top 10.

Lebron, CP3, Durant, Westbrook, Lillard, Aldridge, Curry, George, Love, Parker, Griffin, Harden, Davis, etc...

That's 13 just off the top of my head. Definitely arguable but I'd pick those guys over Melo any day, any time unless the game is a one on one game.

Just gon have to see him play more and if he can sustain his current play.

If we're going to get all statistical Carmelo isn't even top 20 in WS/48 it's good for 33. His best was last year with .184 which would put him 13th so far this year. Obviously that's not the whole picture. He's one of those frustrating types who can win a game by himself and lose a game by himself.

The whole initial followed by shortened last name nickname thing is so hackneyed and asinine now as if it weren't to begin with... JLo, D-Will etc. Why not L-Jam or Ray-Ron, D-Lill, Mo Dub or something else equally as idiotic? I vote for P-Geo because it sounds like the word "beer" in Chinese.

Nah he's deffo top 10. Griffin is not even top 30. Lillard is barely top 20. Parker not even top 80.

And y'all sleeping on nowitzki and millsap. Top 12 for sure. Millsaps had a few bad games recently against top teams but playing generally out of his mind

considering i'm in NY and considering that for some reason everyone keeps takling about the knicks, i figure i'll follow them.

it seems being frustrated is part and parcel of being a knicks fan, but that's ok, i'm a Jets fan.

What? That statement is laughable.

Lillard not top 20? Leading the biggest surprise/breakout team of the year along with several clutch shots already in the year?

Parker not even top 80? Leading arguably the best team in the league?

Griffin is easily top 10, look at his stats in comparison to last year, especially his last 20 or so games. Top PFs in talks right now are, in no particular order, Griffin, Aldridge and Love.

Clutch shots and leading a top team doesn't make you statistically a top player. We're talking statistics.

There's so many players at the four playing better than griffin it's laughable.

We're not talking about stats, just the top players this year. The post that initiated the discussion was speaking of Melo being top 5 in a bar, not statistically.

Name someone undeniably better than Griffin at the 4 that isn't Aldridge or Love?
