He's a rookie coach i guess we have to keep our expectations in check, I'm not super convinced that will bode well for this team, I mean newcomers are old and brook, joe and deron are in their primes.

I had to google - I thought he was found dead or something.

So he has a crack addiction? I had seen quotes about his addiction to "candy" before - stupid me, I thought he was referring to real candy

    Only his career.

And yes, the references to "candy" were to the traditional kind, like Snickers or Reese's Cups or whatever. There were occasional features stories about how much of it he consumed. Whatever drug issues he may also have, the candy references were not some sort of urban slang.

Just to get some conversation going, read this article about Rondo and why he isn't worth a max deal despite his passing and defensive abilities.

Whoa, the author posits a causal relationship between Rondo's not being an elite-level scorer and the fact that he's a crappy shooter. Controversial stuff!

Author's also cherry picking statistics, especially the section on 4th quarter performance. I'd like to see overall impact on the team rather than just points and shooting percentage. A player can have other impacts on the game (assists, defense, rebounding, etc.)

Obvious stuff yes but again he is being considered a max player and some here might actually agree. So you really don't know what kind of discussion you can get.

As skitlet said, there are also intangibles that goes further than just stats to a player so yeah.

He's also a complete punk that many of the best/most respected players would be wary of playing with....that also should factor in any decision to make him 'the franchise'

#same problems as dwight howard # still gets max moneyz

if rondo comes back healthy and strong he'll be traded. I hate to see him go, but two more years at that great contract is worth a motherload - especially for a team that can utilize his talents (warriors/nuggets/rockets).. my bet is there's a three way trade involving the Pacers and celtics.

please... do you know how perfect rondo would be on the Heat? In fact the heat actually have to start thinking of ways to keep lebron.... getting him a pass first PG (damn that sounded weird and is sad considering) like rondo might be one of the ways to extend lebron's career after this year.

I don't think the Warriors would need Rondo, they already got Curry w/ Iggy doing the secondary dribbling/playmaking responsibilities.

Rockets also got Harden and he is already a ball heavy handler along with Lin. Not sure if Rondo could play with Harden, it might just hinder him.

Not sure the Pacers would would mess with their line-up too. Hill is a good PG and back-up Watson is good in that bench role. They are doing well and making that big change might just screw the chemistry up.

These 3 teams has to really mess up badly and have terrible records (as in not even going to make the playoffs) by the trade deadline to even consider trading one of their big asset players for Rondo. Nuggets might be able to trade away Lawson to get Rondo, that one could make sense. The other teams, they seem better off w/o Rondo.

But Lebron's the perfect example of what I'm talking about. He DESPISES rondo. The feeling's mutual, I'm sure, but that makes it much tougher for the Celtics to recruit him of they ever would want to.

Also, I'm not disagreeing that rondo wouldn't be a good complementary player, but Lebron's a bad example. Lebron is the pg - the way to make him better is to put someone with him who'll convert his passes. Someone like Melo would be a better fit for rondo because rondo will give him easy spot ups

Agreed with the first two but for Indy Rondo would be perfect. Indy are young atheltic team, him running the fastbreak and pick and roll for them would get them easy baskets. Especially since they DO SUCK at controlling the ball. Them vs MIA was a turnover fest, many of them not even forced.

Celtics might trade Rondo coz of two reasons
    - he played on good teams so he will ask to be traded if the team sucks bad
    - team will stuck as a 8th/9th seed and will only get late draft picks and fail to sign good FAs
then they will trade rondo so they can suck for 2 seasons

Any decent PG would make Indy better. They don't have a single one

I think George Hill is a good PG, not as good as Rondo but he fits with the Pacers. I think it is also one of those teams that is already solid and just got better with CJ Watson and return of Granger. I really would rather keep Hill with his better shooting and ft% as that is crucial to finish off the game.
