also talk of them adding Shumpert to a deal for Nash, what a fucking disgrace Dolan is. While I think 3/20 is too much for last year's Fields, he is a guy who I think can average 14-16 a game on the right team and have the occasional 25+ and 10 rebound game. Woodson (and Melo) just totally fucked up his confidence/game, as he did with Douglas. Woodson seems to dislike young players, at least on last year's Knicks and while I think he deserves the coaching job, he is the classic .500 coach that will have a few good seasons but will never take a team over the hump. He defers to Melo, a guy that has shown you will not make anyone around him better. If it was up to him he'd probably start Lenny Wilkens and Lou Hudson in the backcourt for the Knicks.

I don't have anything against Fields. It just seems like the biggest mistake GMs make is overpaying role players. Especially when you're a team like Toronto which has zero allstars and is not contending and thus has no reason to splurge on role players.

At least the Fields contract is nowhere near as egregious as Gerald Wallace's.

Agreed. 3 years and everyone will be gone. Hopefully, Dolan too.

    Dolan.

And there is no way that Howard ends up a Net. The money simply does not add up.
I would not be surprised at all to see him in LA. Big market = big money from Adiddas and co. and the Laker's can't wait to dump Bynum.

uhh.. the biggest mistake I see teams making is over paying "elite" players and not spending on quality role players. Gerald Wallace is a baller and 10 mil. a year is a perfect price for him.

Not necessarily. Jim Buss (James Dolan lite) LOVES Bynum. Calls him his pet project.

Wallace is a hustle/role player who relies on his athleticism for everything and players like that fade really quickly once they get in their 30s.

He's going to be 30 this month and he's already past his prime. He averaged 15 pts / 7rebs last year and that already isn't worth $10mil a year. The Nets are going to be eating the last two years of his contract.

Dude, you might be right about his age, but 15/ 7 plus D is absolutley worth 10 mil a yer.

Terry apparently going to Celtics....which means Ray Allen must be gone, right? there's no reason to have both on the same roster, given what they bring to the table

and Steve Nash apparently to Lakers. perhaps there will be less LA-based crying in the NBA 2012-2013 thread as a result

Not really. He took less money to go to LA than he would have gotten from Toronto or NY. Gotta say, real classy move by Phoenix. Gave him the opportunity to play for a ring and traded him to someone in their own division. A heated rival no less.

Now, if LA will just dump Bynum for Howard, all will be well at the LakeShow.
