I doubt Boston trade Pierce. He looks like he'll retire his jersey there plus Boston is the only place that even remotely likes him.

^it was just a theoretical trade that orlando might get for a one year rental.

but there are actually some teams willing to part with great assets for a one year rental (Houston being the front runner). eventually there might actually be something good (less assets but more financial flexibility with expiring contracts) - maybe something like josh smith (where danny ferry can just dump dwight howard after next year and the J. Smith contracts and start anew).

    d. williams has resigned with the Nets.... they'll have a "meh" team next year, but better than the last two years..... I just got the OK from the wife to get a partial season ticket package for next year. the stadium is looking really nice and right in the middle of downtown brooklyn - luckily its a 20min bus ride from the house (so I don't have to deal with parking). Hell I might even just ride a bike there to watch games (its actually a 15min bike ride).

I don't think 3 first round picks in the mid-20s is that great. How do you know that LA won't put Bynum on the table?

supposedly D12 will only sign an extension with the Nets.... maybe dallas.

but seeing how much of a flighty girl howard is when it comes to making a good decision about where he wants to play he'll probably demand a trade to Chicago soon.

If Orlando takes that deal they're nuts. I know Dwight is a disappearing act, but even with that he's still one of the top 5 players in the league. Would any of those schmucks have played 5 minutes in the all-star game? Or even on either of the finals teams? And 3 end of round draft picks? This isn't the NFL. Those RARELY work out.

Rarely but it happens. Parker is a 28th pick and Manu was high 50s iirc. They do not need an solid Superstar from those drafts, just role players that can grow into an AllStar.

How does trading draft pick work anyways? So if the Magic bombs next season (which is a possibility) that means their chance of getting a high lottery is higher, no? Or are they stuck getting that high number?

Also, I think Brook Lopez can be an AllStar in the East, before getting hurt he averaged 20/8 for 2 years and actually played all games in his first 3 years so he is capable of being healthy. A season or two with Deron or a decent PG and he'd get that average up and be a good back-up AllStar. Marshon Brooks was easily the 2nd or 3rd best player in last years draft before he got hurt, I can see him a future All Star too or at least a very good wingman.

    Actually, after seeing this:

...if they make that Howard trade, the Nets will be very, very depleted in talent and will result in a bunch of DLeague & soon to retire players. It'll be worst than Miamis bench players.

guys, Dwight Howard is going to leave and Orlando is going to get nothing. the Nets' offer is really good compared to - yup, nothing. or even anything that Houston might come up with. Houston is the only team that (allegedly) has come out and said they are fine with a one year rental.

with that said, can the Nets actually afford 2 max contracts (Williams and Howard), a super max contract (Johnson), and Gerald Wallace? like even without being able to sign 8 other players (i know you can get as many minimum contracts as you want, but those will be D leaguers, failed 2nd round picks, and Michael Olowakandi)

You can see the future. I see the, arguably, 3rd best player in the league. Someone who could change your team for years to come. Good luck with that prognosticating.

Rumors now have Orlando talking to the Lakers. Fucking A+

Also, Hollinger has an interesting piece up about Atlanta getting into the running for both Dwight and Chris Paul next season. That was an interesting exercise.

one more LOL - ESPN ran one of those polls asking who got the better of the Nets - Hawks trade, and showed the results by state. 74% of Georgia respondents said they won the trade (giving up JJ)

so the nets become a solid playoff team (assuming they stay healthy) buy effing up their future cap space. They are becoming the knicks and I am afraid to say that they stand a chance of being better than the knicks next season :(

Wow, way to twist my words around to try and make a stupid point. I simply stated I could see it happening (as in it's possible) and you turn it into "seeing the future" like it's a fact? Get the hell out of here.

And Howard 3rd best player? Are you kidding me? 2-3 years ago I would have agreed with you but he hardly progressed in the past years and still has less than a handful of post moves. Lebron, KD, Wade, Kobe, Love, Rose, CP3, Westbrook, Melo, Dirk, etc... are all easily better than Howard at this point. Keep in mind Dwight finaly got his big injury and centers tends to keep those injuries the rest of their careers and that his ugly diva attitude has surfaced.

And the discussion is Nets trade with Orlando for Howard and he already said he isn't signing with them so at this point, he really can't change shit in the Magic other than to fuck with them next year.
