since the 12-1 odds and 8-1 odds have been explained I'll explain how the other popular odds you'll see:

often you'll see something like +400 or -400

when you see the above its under the assumption that you'll be betting $100 and what your winnings will be if you win the bet. or how much you have to bet to have a payout of $100.

a +400 means that you're betting the underdog and if you bet $100 you'll get $400.

a -400 means that you're betting the favorite and you need to bet $400 to win $100.

note: you don't actually have to bet exactly $100, or even in $100 increments, but the bookie will compute the same ratio anyway.

the online betting sites love using the +/- method because its so easy to raise/lower the odds/payouts incrementally and instantaneously especially if the betting action is wild. so its always a good idea to see what the betting lines are for a sporting even really early (like hours after NFL playoff day results) because thats where you'll see the best value (largest odds against an underdog or smallest point spread for the favorite).

No kidding. Just those highlights make me want him on the USA team this year.

I'm still unsure how well Griffin will do against international players but dude is about to blow around the world if he can get a few of those dunks a game.

he's going to be purely an open court player at this point...if the US team can crash the defensive glass and force turnovers, he, Lebron and the PG's can turn on the jets and crush some backboards. which btw is the best way to beat Spain. not that i enjoy guys getting injured, but Rubio being out is huge for the US team

3 way deal between Orlando, Brooklyn, and Cleveland. I, for the life of me, cannot understand why any of these clubs would want this deal. Its fucking horrendous.

Maybe but keep in mind that Chandler is the only true center in this team so Blake might play some center position and be working too hard on defense to get some offense going, especially since his offensive repertoire is still very limited at this point. I hope he has enough stamina for it because he'd be relying on it heavily.

The Clips were involved in this trade earlier today by giving up 2 picks to get Marshon Brooks, which isn't so bad. The deal depends on about 3-4 players agreeing to a sign and trade though so they have a lot of convincing to do. If it were me and I was getting stuck in Cleveland, I'd fuck the deal up and just go FA.

griffin did this so casually... right off a layup line.... but its an incredibly difficult dunk... freaking off the back board... in air catch through the legs windmill.... just typing it it sound impossible to do without traveling.

its totally possible he could do this in-game easily maybe even during a blow-out game this olympics.

Not done yet, but it sounds like the Magic get a lot for a guy who is going to leave anyway.

Brook Lopez, three first round picks from the Cavs, first round pick from Clippers, expiring contracts,...
The Cavs picks will be lottery picks. Likely 1-5.

^ That can't be right. Why would the Cavs give up 3 first round picks when they're not getting D12 or Lopez......

I don't know why. I think it sounds to good to be true for the Magic too.

Maybe the picks could be top 3, top 7, or even lottery protected.
It sounds like a complicated deal where the Magic come out on top.

Yeah, if the Magic are able to pull off something along the lines of that trade that would be pretty darn good.

That's fucking horrible. Honestly, you give up one of the best in the game (yeah, yeah, I know. But still, he's DEFINITELY top 10) for a pu-pu platter of mid 20's draft pics? This is a travesty.

    Really?
6 first round picks + cap room gives you a lot to work with. Orlando will likely draft at least some talent. They will also be able to attract some free agents with max contracts.

Edit- He was going to leave next year anyway.

Definitely. LA, Cleveland, and Brooklyn will all make the playoffs. Brooklyn will be the in the conference finals with that lineup. Its going to be a pu-pu platter of shit players. Who the fuck would want to sign in Orlando after this mess? With absolutely no one on the roster? The could easily get a few starting pieces, Bynum, somebody. I mean, jeasus, at least TRY and put together a team that your fans should want to come and see.

Kris Humphries is reportedly holding up the deal because he wants a multi-year contract. I think Orlando is working on the "bigger fool" theory. There is a GM somewhere who is foolish enough to take several late 1st-round draft picks in exchange for a lottery pick. Orlando thinks they can eventually get enough star players to win again, but the NBA is a game of superstars. One or two superstars are generally needed to contend for the championship, so IMO it's generally best to package multiple players or draft picks for one, better player. Wash, rinse, repeat and end up with a team like the Lakers, centered around Kobe, Pau, and Bynum. As we've seen, one big superstar can also draw other marquis players, so acquiring (super)stars is the name of the game. Brook Lopez does have the potential to develop into a fine center, perhaps one of the 3-4 best centers in the league, but he'll never scare anyone.

In other news, I'm glad to see Marcus Camby headed to the Knicks instead of Miami. His defense in the paint would have really helped the Heat for a year or two, as he covered for Lebron and D-Wade gambling on defense.

Edit: I'm also glad to see the Thunder standing pat once again this off-season. Adding Perry Jones in the draft was great and their experience in this last championship finals may be enough to put them over the top. People don't place enough value on teamwork and the experience of having played together for several years.
