Seller is being stupid. IF Lin makes the All Star game enxt year, which is likely considering how the Chinese fans vote, it will be worth a lot more.

I mean, it has a bit to do with his race and people like that whole underdog story (and really if you think an Asian in the NBA is not an underdog story then I don't even know what to tell you), but I still believe that a black player doing what he's doing would get some pretty decent attention. I think a more accurate assessment of why he's getting so much attention is age + race.

a black or white player that broke out like lin would totally get a ton of media attention. garbage to starter with legit starting pg stats? from jack shit to 38 points high with legit assists, rebounds, a good 1, 2 steal, block a game? who wouldnt get media attention?

his asianness just hypes it even more

Only in a race-moronic country like America could someone think they were being insightful by saying "I think race plays a factor in this". No shit, Floyd.

Was Tiger more newsworthy because he wasn't white? Why does Junior Seau have so many pacific islander fans? Why does Mark Sanchez do some interviews for Spanish TV? Is it because he's..... LATINO??????????????

    Fuccoutahere

PS, did you know Dirk is pretty popular in Germany? But not in Italy. Go figure.

that's what I mean. Any dude would get noticed for what he's doing, it's just him being young and asian makes it that underdog, against all odds, feel-good story which amplifies everything.

    okay dickhead alert over here.

first off, we weren't talking about him getting extra attention where he was from (ala your Dirk and Sanchez argument) we were talking more attention entirely. As in, he's on the CNN's homepage. We're talking about him getting extra commendation from EVERYONE. It's obvious that a Latino would be noticed on a Latino station, or an Asian on an Asian station, but everyone is coming together over Lin moreso than any other player in the NBA with similar stats or performances.

Yeah, exactly. It is exactly what it is, a combination of everything. What is there to argue about?

he came from Harvard, the most prestigious university in the world, a school that has sent 2, 3? players to the NBA in its history
Asian, HS player of the year in Cali, in itself pretty fucking crazy
Asian in the NBA, one of less than 15 (Tabuse, NEVER FORGET)
Scores more points in 4 starts than Jordan, Shaq, Lebron, AI, Isiah, Magic, Bird, Etc etc etc

It is exactly what it is, what is the debate here? Was it news when Michelle Wie was trying to play mens PGA? She was 16, she drove 300 yds and she was a girl, that's fucking news.

You think there is some Asian-leaning US media bias? Fuccoutahere
