Draft picks get so much exposure that it is impossible for raw talent to slip into the 20s. The Lakers always do well at picking up all star veterans with a year or two left.
Mitch Richmond, Gary Payton, Karl Malone,...
There are very few mistakes that Mitch K has made. Maybe trading Caron Butler for Kwame, but then again Kwame was the piece that brought us Pau.

Dwight Howard not interested in the Clips and the Magic probably won't pull the trigger before the trade deadline.
    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/scoop...-uninterested-joining-clippers-135028205.html

The Magic are stupid if they don't take Bynum straight up for Dwight Howard. Their stats are about the same, but Bynum plays with Gasol who picks up a few of his potential points, rebounds, and an assist or two. Bynum is younger, cheaper, and has some room to grow.
Why aren't the Magic jumping on this???

Edit- Also, Bynum will be the All Star center in the West this season.

Magic wouldn't trade Howard up until after the All-Star game since it's in Orlando. If they trade Howard, who will be the face of the ASG? Hedo? Big baby?

And Bynum will be an AllStar but that's because there are no other center to vote for in the West. Deandre Jordan will likely be the back-up C too, I mean i'm happy for him but he isn't ASG caliber.

howard has to be the most overrated superstar in years. 2/3 of games he's a poor man's shaw and 1/3 of the time he's a rich man's olowakandi

Oh come on now, you can't compare Olowakandi to Howard, heck you can't even compare Olowakandi to Kwame.

    Good point.

Edit-Would Bynum be an All Star in the East?

He'll probably get the most vote w/o Howard if they are traded but even if he doesn't play, being in the Lakers will probably get him in. Marc Gasol, Nene and Jefferson are all good centers in the West but they just aren't as popular Bynum. For the East there's Chandler, Boozer, Bogut, Horford, Monroe and Hibbert. All good but some are either old veterans or too young to be popular. No other star power in that position outside of Howard.

I just realized that if Rubio wins ROY, he'll be the third player from his draft class to win the award.

the best part about rubio is that he's legitimately good player and shooting well too - like he's actually looking like a future allstar only 15 games into his NBA career.

if that team could find a dwane wade/kobe/joe johnson type of player in the draft (or god forbid trade for something like that) that would be a legit contender.
