:( i forgot about the gasols being spanish. i'd put al jefferson instead. maybe chandler.

as for ryan anderson he's a season leader in 3s, 7 rpg, 17ppg, and he's amazingly efficient (almost 90% from the free throw line, 45 fgp). after lowry, ryan anderson is honestly the biggest surprise of the year. of course it might be that dwight is drawing a lot of the attention leaving anderson open for a lot of shots, but even so he's pulling through big for magic

he's slightly more deficient in other areas compared to aldridge (not as defensive or hustles as much which shows in his steals and block numbers), but i think his 3s are more than enough make up for it

imo at first i thought it was just a hot streak, but he's kept it up for what a month now. i dont think he's going anywhere

anyways considering how much money goes into the nba america better win golds

His defensive skills/stats are almost non-existant though not to mention he is less consistent (scoring-wise) than Aldridge. His only edge is 3's but the team has enough 3-point shooters (or decent shooters) with Durant, Kobe, Rose, Gordon, Gay, Melo, Love and Iggy (yeah he's improved in 3's this year). I still think Anderson is one-dimensional, bigger Euro players will punish him in the paint. They really do not need another scorer, they need a defender who isn't afraid to get physical like Tyson Chandler.

USA BB can only pick from the 20-man pool listed in the article. so Lowry and Ryan Anderson (and Al Jefferson) cannot be selected.

the Olympics emphasize shooting, spacing, defense and beating zones. no one comes close to playing defense as tenaciously as the Americans and turning that defense into transition so quickly. we'd be wise to pick players who live up to those strengths. plus we have Kevin Durant, who might have the best FIBA game of anyone playing today in the world

Spain is going to be fearsome in London, as well. with Marc Gasol becoming a star and Rubio seemingly not far behind, the Spanish have two excellent team generals in Rubio and Calderon, a bevy of deadly shooters (Rudy F, Navarro, and some non-NBA guys) and a fearsome frontline of the Gasol brothers and Serge Ibaka, who I don't know how he made it on the Spanish team

i didnt realize that about the list.

    from the list

G: Kobe, Rose, Paul, Gordon, Iguodala
F: Lebron, Durant, Melo, Love, Aldridge
    C: Dwight, Chandler

Ryan Anderson is 6'10. I dunno the average height of the european bballers, but i would imagine ryan would have a good advantage over the majority of them. Also I don't really see ryan as one dimensional. Jumpers, threes, hustles for offensive rebounds, quick in the post when he needs to be, big enough to make big passes and high screens. IMO there's a lot of guys on the list that drive well and a big man on the wings who can overpower mismatches and can consistently knock down the 3s is an excellent thing to have. besides anderson out of that first list the only 2 i would trust to make consistent 3s is lowry and love. maybe melo, rose, and iguodala. the rest you mentioned have been inconsistent and not as good as they've been in the past years. just take a look at their stats this season. even with rose melo and iguodala i would argue threes are not what they could be used best for. having anderson on the wings would open up a lot of opportunities

If you saw the knicks today you would've seen stoudemire being outmatched by anderson. i admit he can be inconsistent, but he's only had maybe 3 bad games this season. that tends to happen with 3 point specialists. they get streaky

magics have been on fire this season with the dwight + shooters combo and anderson is the most lethal shooter they have

imo that team is defensively on fire (league's best steals, blocks, and offensive rebounds) and a versatile 3 point specialist would serve them best.

Anderson averages less than one assist a game so he may be big enough to make passes but he doesn't. He can hassle when he wants to but even Van Gundy has called him out for being lazy out on the court this year alone and it's been a month of bball so far. He's just a tall shooter that can rebound but not defend. He is like Dirk but a lot less talented. He is having a break out year but he isn't even going to crack my top 10 PF this year. He's scoring for the Magic the same way Jordan Crawford was scoring for the Wizards last year, not much option. Dwight rarely gets the ball on the paint or he gets fouled because of his terriple ft%. Nelson is practically a back-up PG at this point of his career and also injury prone. JRich is a shell of his old self and again, hurt all the time. Hedo is their only other scorer but he is more of a playmaker for the Magic and he isn't going to give you 20 a night.

And have you seen Euro bball centers? They have Pau, Marc, Nowitzki, Kaman, sized player there that are bulkier and can push people around. They're very physical too, not the ticky-tacky NBA fouls these players are used to in the US. For a 6'10 guy, he doesn't seem to block any shots.

And from that list, you leave out Durant as one you can consistently trust outside the arc? I mean Durant, the guy who has made more than handful of game winning shots from behind the arc in his very short career?

^yeah none of them were hitting shots. it was painful to watch the whole game. i still think tyson chandler was worth the 12 mil to the mavs. brandon haywood just makes me :fu:

i would argue that he doesn't have that much assists simply because that's not how van gundy uses him, not because he's not capable. and after lashing on tv from van gundy his rebounds have gone up.

dwight rarely gets the ball on the paint????

they might be tall, but they're not going to be guarding a 6' 10 shooter from the wings with people the size of those centers.

durant i would sneak back in. my point was that while i would entrust the ball to durant, melo, iguodala, rose for that game winning 3 pointer if i was coaching their respective teams having a separate 3 point specialist would open up other opportunities for them during the game. there's a ton of plays you can make if you have a tall shooter in the wings that's a credible threat. i've conceded that he's not defensive enough, but with that team i would argue that a shooter would be nicer to have

    anyways it's a moot point

the mavs still covered the spread so I'm still :D

dirk looks injured or something (he may actually be dogging it).... tyson was definitely worth 12million ..... but in this shortened season and with the Mavs' potential super large cap space looming with one less contract (maybe trading away Marion)... the mavs have the potential to sign TWO max contracts next year...

that could possibly mean: dirk, deron williams, and D. howard on the same motherfucking team... thats a big three that works well together too... unlike the miami big three that have to subjugate their talents to work.

it looks like Cuban is being pragmatic and just "tanking with a good team" this year to unleash his salary cap space for next year... I secretly think that dirk was told about this and thats why he's dogging it this year (saving himself for next year's mega free agent class superteam potential).

Apparently, (one of) Kobe's mistresses was Jesse Burciaga? Damn...she might be worth the trouble. :hide:
