Chris Broussard is making it seem like the LAKERS are the ones that backed out. Wha?
Pretty much. PAu is far, far better than Laker fans give him credit for. One thing I do like about the (possible) trade is the Lakers get younger.
Can't discredit his skills but Lakers are smarter than that, they'll get a suitable big man if the deal would have gone through. Chances are, that is the dealmaker for Dwight to come to the Lakers as well. With Dwight in the middle, you can put an injured Oden in there with him they'd still be effective.
Maybe, but I think it has a lot to do with his passive attitude. I'm grateful for what he contributed while at the same time it'd be nice to see someone other than Kobe or DFish pick up the slack and take charge during those tough post-season moments.
D12, CP3, if it comes together Kobe needs a new nickname. Maybe K8, (H8rs gonna H8).
Douche just got to rub it in.
so basically getting CP3 or D12 via trade is out of the question for any big market team now. stern would have to veto all CP3/D12-related trades from here on out.
No, not D12. Stern can't veto any Orlando trades because Orlando isn't NBA-owned.
Anyway, ironically I think Stern saved the Lakers here. Gasol and Odom for CP3 was not good. I'd rather they trade Bynum and Gasol for Howard first.
And Magic Johnson was definitely a legit PG.
right, right. had a brain fart there.
ya...that seemed like giving up significant pieces to get a PG (a great one no doubt) but Gasol & Odom?? No way.
I think you guys are judging the CP3 trade out of context. Yes, by itself it would appear foolish to give away two 7'ers for a PG, but were you guys really not expecting another shoe to drop? This was clearly the first part of getting Howard, or even Okafur, over to LA. I'm not sure what kind of package it would have taken to to sweeten a Bynum deal but someone had to have been a taker or the first trade would have never happened.
He's 24 now. I liked him better as 8.
NO possible sign & trade of David West...
