Consensus on the ProSportsDaily board is that the Bulls best free agent option at shooting guard is Jason Richardson. Certainly would be a huge improvement over Bogans and Korver. (Possibly 8-10 pts more per game)

OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay will be hard to get. I say keep Brewer because of his defense.

I stopped watching after the third. When I checked the box score near the end of the game, I had the same reaction as Doink at 3:41...

So Miami is going to the finals against another team that swept them in the regular season. Defending Dirk is the key of course. Id expect to see Lebron on him sometimes but the series hinges on the ability of the more mobile bigs like Bosh and Haslem to defend him

I still don't agree that Rose choked or lost this series. If you're being guarded by an all nba defensive player who's as quick as you, but bigger and stronger, and marked by four other quick and mobile guys if you get by him...you're gonna struggle if no one else steps up to help you.

Oh, and Mike Brown is not a terrible choice as coach. He doesn't "look smart," but he's known as a defensive coach and knows how to work with superstars. Sure, he's not too creative but any coach would be a step down from one of the top 2 all time NBA coaches. Mike Dunleavy, who's an utter fool, would be a terrible choice. And Brian Shaw has no experience - a big risk for a team that's gotta squeeze in as many championship runs as possible while Kobe's still elite. But he's not a great choice either...I liked Adelman better

LBJ on Dirk in the finals...did they try that in the regular season? If so, how did it go? Fuck I hope LBJ can't do to Dirk what he did to Rose. If there is a season to beat the heat, it has to be this season!
Keep in mind the Mavs had Caron Butler for the first game, so we're really only looking at a one game sample of Mavs/Heat for the season, and it was a one bucket game (Mavs won). I'm saying Heat in six, just for poetic symmetry with '06. They do have home court.

My analysis is that the Mavs can't win if Dirk is the only one that performs. The Mavs need Dirk Plus. On any given night it can be about anyone. In game 4 against LA it was Terry. In game 4 against OKC it was Marion. Dirk has to be awesome and then between Marion, Jet, Barea, Kidd and Peja, someone else also has to be awesome. If they can get a double dose of awesome each night, then they can beat Miami. Otherwise, I don't know if they can.

So now Short Buss is saying Bynum is "untouchable" in any trades. Yep, makes sense.[IMG]

He's going to ruin the franchise. Bynum is not untouchable. From the games I've seen, he has a lot more potential than he has shown. Unfortunately injuries plagues him and he doesn't seem to have a good work ethic.

Agreed, it has to be Dirk+1 and they have the peeps to do it.

Although.... Barea has been the real difference in the playoffs for the Mavs with his ability to break down a defense. I just don't think he's better at it than Rose and Miami's interior was able to stifle him so that doesn't bold well.

Marion caught lightning in a bottle, not to say he couldn't do it again I just wouldn't expect it from him. So Terry is the key, he's been hot. I just hope his streak continues.

It should be a good Finals, hopefully it will live up to the standard set by the series' leading up to it. Its just easier for me to see Dallas's offense fading for periods of time before Miami's defense does. [IMG]

The difference between the Mavs and the Bulls, though, is that Barea doesn't have to be anywhere nearly as good as Rose. Barea isn't carrying the offense. Dirk is.

Dirk needs to keep it up, LeBron is probably as good a defender as he has faced these playoffs, and how Dirk fares in the finals will also depend on how tightly the games will be called (Dirk can't go off every game like game 4 against OKC when he hit shots even when fouled).

Besides that, they will also need someone else to step up, I agree.

At least 2 years. We still forget that this Laker team is still damn good, it just underperformed/choked in the playoffs this year. They will finish in the top half of the conference playoff teams and get eliminated spectacularly somewhere.

He needs to lay a real fucking ostrich egg to get fired the first year... miss the playoffs, or more realistically, like a 6th seed and a first round exit.

Zero is less than 4.5, right?

They can't put Lebron on Dirk all the time, as we've seen when stronger players guard Dirk, they foul him. Lebron is strong but shorter than Odom or Ibaka/Collison so he will be a problem once Dirk starts posting him up, big risk of being in foul trouble there. Not to mention that Dirk is practically automatic from the line.
