nash makes a lot of sense for a 1-2 year option.

someone like steve nash/chris paul in a pick and role system would be perfect for the lakers. think about kobe/gasol/odom all working the pick and role with nash/paul.

there are always folks suggesting the lakers go to a more standard nba offensive system. don't quite understand it. a) the triangle has resulted in 5 championships; b) the personnel have been chosen for how they fit in the triangle; c) since everybody else in the world runs pnr, what would the advantage be? just because the lakers have a hard time defending it doesn't mean that everybody else does.
when the triangle is moving, it is an absolute thing of beauty and practically indefensible because of the flexibility.

That is just retarded. This is the NBA thread so get over it.

No one else is talking about or bringing up the other teams at the moment so there aren't much discussion. I put my predictions in and it got ignored. People posts when games happen or there is drama with those other teams and it goes from there. Just because people discuss the Lakers because there are more loyal fans here doesn't make it a pure Lakers thread. Why don't you start a discussion or bring up a point about the other reams and if it interests others, they'll reply. Nothing much is going on right now. You want to read people say who they predict will win or who they want to win 100 times over again?

You're just another Laker hater coming out of their hole now that they are out but nowhere to be seen when they are winning. People really should just get over it or start something non-Laker related and see who replies, if no one replies to discuss then move on.

I'm picking OKC on their home floor, although home/away hasn't really meant much in this series.

Didn't get to see the triple overtime game, spent the evening with the gf instead. So I'm looking forward to seeing these two teams again now that I now Dallas has the winner.

I haven't watched much of Memphis this year other than some of a few playoff games. Have seen OKC a bit more but still am no expert on them. I went to one Dallas/OKC game here last year. They strike me as pretty much a two player team, but I could be wrong. Durant is obviously a beast. The game I saw earlier in the playoffs where Memphis won, Westbrook was hogging the ball in the 4th quarter. I don't think Durant touched it more than once or twice down the stretch, which seemed crazy to me.

As I said, I'll be paying much closer attention tonight.

    + 1.
That other thread is idiotic and the presumptions behind it ridiculous and completely false, sorry.
No one here is doing what is claimed there. What is narcissistic is the fact that someone started that thread.

Just 2 days ago, after the Lakers were eliminated, there were at least a couple of pages entirely devoted to the OKC-MEM 3-OT game. Many of the posts were made by Lakers fans. Many non-Laker fans are also posting re: the Lakers.

These are the playoffs; the fact that the 2-time champions lost; the fact that the team is going to change; the fact that the greatest coach in NBA history is retiring; etc....those are all relevant topics and have nothing to do with so-called "Laker Fanboy Bawling". Jeezus. [IMG]

Lifelong Laker fan here very much looking forward to tonight's games, especially OKC-MEM, and then discussing those games, etc. in this thread.

I think OKC. It should be another great game. Is MIA going to close it out tonight? RIP Tractor; that guy was a beast at Michigan.

Incredibly, Westbrook has shot the ball more than Durant in the entire series. I think Brooks is going to put a stop to that tonight.

I agree with Kenny and Chuck that Memphis is the most versatile team (can beat other teams in various ways) left in the play-offs. Really impressive.

I'd be happy with any of the West teams winning it all; out of the East I only like Atlanta. (I actually don't dislike Chicago, except for Noah.)

I'm picking Memphis because they just really battle out there. That triple overtime with 2 OTs w/o Mayo and Conley and they still hang in there. That really impressed me. They seem to play well on the road as well so I like their chances.

i agree with that. i just keep wondering, though ... first time in the playoffs? how long can cinderella keep dancing? but they've got a great core group.

I think they can make it to the finals but I am not sure they can win it all though. The thing is, they have that length advantage in Marc & Zach and they take advantage of that unlike the Lakers who made their size irrelevant. Both can score and rebound well too, each already had their 20/20 game in this series alone.

Then they have their great lockdown defenders in Allen and Battier, they still can't guard Durant but the rest of the team struggles against them. Conley has greatly improved this season and good thing they didn't trade Mayo because he is actually useful off the bench this post-season. They also have their role players that step up, see Vazquez in the last game.

And last but not the least, they are just working hard because they know this might be the only chance they have at the chip. No one is counting this guys to make the playoffs in the next 5 years like they did with OKC last year so they are making the best of it. I'm not a big fan of Memphis if anyone remembers but they are gaining my support.
