1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

he's a helluva player. he was the one that i really hated to see go in the pau trade.
Butler? He was dealt to get Odom iirc. TO be honest though, Butler wouldn't have grown or gotten better with Kobe next to him. They play practically the same position (SG/SF) so it was a good trade in the end.

I love how there are 15 articles on espn about the Lakers and how they underperformed [IMG]

The comments are of the same caliber as those on youtube.

Almost erased it out of my mind that Kwame actually wore the purple and gold along with Smush Parker.

OK...a little game. From the standpoint of the Networks (best TV audience) rank the possible finals matchups of remaining teams from "American Idol" to "What's Basketball?".

Best: Miami/Dallas (a repeat of 2006, but now with more LaBron)

Worst: Atlanta/Memphis (What, were Duluth and Topeka not available?)

The best of all possible matchups of course would have been LA/Miami, but that's done.

Love 'em or hate 'em (I hate 'em) Miami is the only team left in the field that's likely to drive ratings this year. As much as I am a Mavs fan I must admit that they generally get a big yawn from the rest of the country. From my perspective though, ATL is probably the worst (who's on that team again?), followed by Memphis.

OKC and Chicago have good young players that people are interested in. The only "big names" are on Boston, Miami and to a much lesser extent Dallas.

    Thoughts?

he is suggesting that even when the lakers are not in the playoffs, they are still the most talked about team in the playoffs.

If you look at it you have 2 small market teams and a semi-small in Dallas left in the Western conference. There's not much else to talk about with all the juicy drama the media would like to tear apart in regards to the epic failure that went down in LA.

    ^this

there is a write-up too with kobe talking about the off season and what's he's going to be doing, worth a read despite obvious espn bias

I also quite enjoy how the heat crushed boston yet the verbiage was very celtic friendly [IMG]

Its expected, they're a polarizing team like the Yankee's or Cowboys. ESPN love them so they get all the air time whether they're winning or losing. All about the ratings.

Dallas/Ft. Worth is the 7th largest media market in the US. I wouldn't call that semi-small (OKC and Memphis are in the mid-40's by contrast).

Point is still conceded though that they don't have the soap opera factor that the Lakers or the Heat have for the media to latch onto.
