There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

what's "better team" mean? the mavs are definitely the team that is playing better right now. 16 of the last 18 games, they weren't.
why didn't they get the ball inside? did you watch? the mavs were totally packing the paint. and because the lakers couldn't hit jumpshots, they got away with it (compare to the lakers doing a drive-by doubleteam on nowitzki, snap pass to kidd, snap pass to terry or stojakovich ... 3!).

What does the last 18 games have to do with anything? Last year they weren't better. LA was a better team. Even earlier this year, Dallas hadn't fully developed their defensive game.

I did watch. What I saw was a Mavs team that presented significant mismatch problems for the Lakers. The Lakers bigs are effective at hammering people inside. But when you've got a 7 footer who is a threat to either pound the ball inside or step out and shoot 40+% from the arc, the Lakers are (or anyone is) simply defenseless. When that player is also effective at exploiting double teams AND has great scoring options to dish off to, it makes for a pretty damned good team.

As for the Mavs packing the paint, I think you have things reversed. Once it became clear that LA couldn't shoot, Carlile decided to take away the interior until they LA proved they needed to guard the perimeter. Until LA proved they could hit the shot doing anything else would have been incompetent coaching. Dallas has significantly improved its perimeter defense this year. That they didn't need it in this series doesn't mean they were bad at it, just that LA didn't make them use it.

Face it. LA isn't losing. Dallas is winning.

BTW. I'm not sure that you and I are saying much different. I was objecting more to some of the other comments here that seemed to neglected to notice that there was even another team on the floor the last 3 games.

And that has NOTHING to do with the Mavs? Kobe's playing pretty well. Bynum had his best game of the series in Game 3. Shannon Brown had a great game. Pau made some mistakes, but he also had a better game than he's had in the series. Dallas was just better.

you don't get credit when you've choked in the playoffs for the past decade.

they'll get credit if they win the championship (which they won't)

And they probably never will again. Phil's out, Kobe will push to get rid of Pau and half the bench will be gone. But at least Ron'ron is locked up for 5 years.

true, I think they're finally spent after having won all those championships [IMG]

They need a new guard and forward.

Sorry guys. Lakers are done. I'm very surprised that Dallas has swept them so far. The games have been close and Dallas hasn't folded But don't fear, there's plenty of room on the Heat hate bandwagon [IMG] but can you stand rooting for the Celtics?! [IMG]

If the Lakers are out I'm rooting for the Grizz! But as much as I wanted the Heat to lose in the reg season I wouldn't mind seeing them come out of the east or maybe win it all. None of these other teams left deserve it and the ones that do (okc, bulls) I don't really like.

Is it possible...and I know this is crazy talk, but just consider it for a second...is it possible that the Mavs are...it's so ridiculous I almost can't let myself think it. OK, here goes...Could the Mavs just be a better team than the Lakers? Is it possible that people have underestimated Dirk? Is it possible that with the addition of Tyson Chandler and the amping up of the defense under Rick Carlile that the Mavs have actually elevated their game to a championship level? It's crazy talk I know. Just wanted to throw it out there. Lot's of talk about in here about how this all about the Lakers not living up to their potential. What if it's about the Mavs just being better?
It's Dirk. Used to be you could bully him and game plan to keep him out of the offense at the end of games. Not anymore.

Same, okc ain't bad but there's one pos on here who rears his head from time to time during playoffs (forgot his sn) who doesn't watch during the regular season (much like new mavs fans as of two days ago).

FYI, if that's directed at me I'm a former Mavs season ticket holder. I've seen nearly every one of their games this year. Just because I don't post in this thread much doesn't mean I don't watch. Very odd that you would make that kind of conclusion.

I should hope Pau does not go anywhere. Half the bench sucks so that's no lose. Ron-ron is overpaid, but he still plays well for a fourth option of even a bench guy. And there's always the Knicks to pick up a fucked up contract. If (and it is a BIG if) Bynum can stay healthy that is the anchor their team needs. Pau can play a whole season a PF. They really, really need some more bench players and a young PG who can create and score.

Honestly Monte Ellis would be a perfect match.

Also, there is the LA factor. CP3, and D12 are both out there and there is nothing saying either or both could not be wooed west, particularly if the LAkers can cut a little dead weight.

So no, not even close to done. They have a good team, they just need their own Tyson Chandler and Jason Terry. Hardly an impossible task.
