Navy suits with light blue shirts - is this combination too blue or too boring? Discuss.

Nothing is boring if it's done well. The right complimentary colors in the tie and an interesting pocket square, and it can look great.

I love a dark navy suit, light blue shirt, with a dark navy tie and white pocket square. Conservative, but probably my favorite combo.

If I go blue with shirt, I usually have one with stripes and then mix in a non-blue tie (shade of brown or red) to spruce it up.

I wear a light blue shirt with my navy suit much more than i do a white shirt-- especially good when you can match the shade of the shirt with a stripe in the tie.

Any pictures?

For me it is too blue.

In germany usually security staff is wearing a blue shirt with a blue tie. For example the Werkschutz of daimler.

I think it all depends on how much contrast your complexion presents. For example, I'm a high-contrast Asian with black hair and fair skin, so I wear this combination only with a red, orange or similarly bold tie.

What happens otherwise? Do you wind up looking 'faded out'?
