Navy blue tie with brown suit

Is it alright to wear a navy blue tie with a brown suit and white shirt? Everyone I ask says absolutely not, I feel like it's a good combo. A brown or tan tie seems too boring to me.

I don't see why not. The opposite - a dark brown tie with a navy suit - is a classic look.

I had a glen plaid suit in tobacco brown with a blue overcheck, and I often wore medium or navy blue solid ties with it. No one ever screamed in horror or even complained. Of course, as I mentioned before, it helps to be startlingly handsome.

+1. You can also experiment with various shades of blue, depending on the particular shade of your suit.

Various shades of blues and browns are a natural combination and are very rarely wrong. A navy tie with a brown suit is one of those.

I don't know who you asked, and I don't know what color tie they think is acceptable to wear with a brown suit, but I definitely don't see anything wrong with navy and brown together.

Navy with brown rocks. In general, I match brown suits with blues or pinks. Go for it.
