Smoked MOP is fine with most navy cloths, agreed. I also didn't quite mean that I don't like white MOP with navy, but rather that it needs to be a luminous navy (or a lighter blue). A luminous navy is a more subtle choice than a lighter blue, in fact.

For the buttons I prefer trocas to white MOP though -- I like the yellowish shade, even though it's supposed to be an inferior, ersatz-type material.

As for the white flannel, I'm awaiting the LL order.

for me, have just ordered a new navy sports coat and i am gonna use Brown MOP's but i dont like the idea of patches on the sleeves

I have a Caruso at the tailor right now with tan horn buttons being installed. I'll post pics in a week or so when I pick 'er up.
