How would you prevent it from going orangeish as it ages?

I supposed you could put shoe polish on it, but the orange is not the final coloration of the belt. I'd say that orangish color is about midway through. Eventually the belt will get dark brown like poly's did.

That is essentially what poly's looks like. Mine doesn't look like that at all though and I am going on a year and 3 months.

That's the same belt? Will it age like that just sitting there in the closet?

Well? I've never had a leather belt before and all of this talk about changing color as it ages...what do I know? So the one on the right is aged too? It doesn't look much different from a new one.

The belt ages in the closet like dry denim does in the closet...

The one on the right is the new one and no it won't age like that sitting in your closet.

They're belts, not wines.

Ask yourself, "what is leather?"
