There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

looks like Pronger and his family moved to St. Louis. I'm guessing he's done.

I refuse to get excited over the latest CBA discussions - I still maintain the season is done.

Also, whats the consensus on best knockoff jerseys? I wanna get something new without breaking the bank... my equipment is red/white/black so it works with Team Canada stuff but definitely not Calgary. If only I were a Blackhawks, Sens, or Devils fan... I could probably swing a Flames practice jersey though. Should've gotten my gear in all white... then I could go with Suomi / Kiprusoff jersey :)

the frustrating part was it felt like there was no progress for months, but only now that there's a much more real potential for the season being fully cancelled are the two groups finally like "oh, shit, we should really talk about this"

That is what gives credence to the owners scripting this to end in late December from the start. They wanted to flex their muscles to show who is in control. Not my way of bargaining but the sporting business is not run like real businesses so why should collective bargaining be any more so.

I'm an idiot when it comes to financial shit...can someone please explain briefly why a competing league popping up (think WHA) would be out of the question. So many would get what they want, fans, Canadian cities who want pro hockey back, and players who would have some sort of leverage against owners.

Can anyone talk of perhaps a breakaway league? Is it a matter of getting investors or is it more about corporate sponsorship? .I find this is such bullshit, two times in 8 years.

Fehr can fuck off forever. How he can continue to kick sand in the owner's faces when he has absolutely no leverage is infuriating.

I have no idea how an alternate league would work - my uninformed guess would be that some kind of legal action from the NHL coincidentally enough about players under contract would be enough to make the idea implausible.

Regardless of which side you favor, does ANYBODY think the union is winning the PR battle? Because, it's frickin laughable.

I'm able to watch a 25 minute NHL press conference in which Bettman lays out everything succintly and simply and then watch the NHLPA talk for 5 minutes with a bunch of rich players loitering in the background. It's like big city lawyers against some rube.

This week there was progress when they had players and owners meet and the NHL wanted to continue that. Then NHLPA says that from now on, they want to deviate from that format. WTF....shit was at least working ! Is Fehr afraid he'll be run out of job? Even just on this ONE element, I lose respect for the NHLPA. That's to say nothing for the player tweets, the whole attitude of the NHLPA and how poorly the NHLPA does PR. Don't even get me started on how the NHLPA wants a shorter term for this CBA versus the NHL wanting ten years. Yeah, cuz this strike is so awesome...let's have another one sooner vs later.

@NYR....at the very least, it sounds like a logistical nightmare. You have to find 30 cities and 30 owners that want to take the risk. Plus wouldn't you be worried about the players doing the same thing to you 10-20 years down the road. I doubt you could get 30 teams with any speed so you are looking at maybe 15-20. Which means a third of the NHLPA would be out of a job. Plus a far amount of fans follow teams based on their (or their family) history with the team over the years.

30 teams is certainly unsustainable, and part of the reason why they're in this mess to begin with. However a 10-15 team league does seam feasible, with half of those teams in Canada. I think people want to see hockey, and would pay to see NHL caliber players on the ice in a North American setting, not the KHL (which is crap TV). As far as legalities, if a federal mediator wasn't helpful in getting these two sies together, surely they couldn't block a breakaway league if one were to blow up.

As a fan...i'd be very happy with this. I just don't see it happening. 10-15 teams would mean half to two thirds of the NHLPA would be out of the NHL so I can't see the union supporting it. But it would make for far better quality games. Every game would be like Detroit vs San Jose or Philly/Boston or Philly/Pitts quality. And the really good games would be like 96-2000 Avs/Red Wings playoff quality.

See thats the thing though, if the Union is seen by the players, as the public is seeing it (only supporting the top stars) this becomes very possible. NHLPA isn't necessarily "supporting" guys going to Europe, but its happening.

while canada lost to finland, i was so happy to actually be watching hockey on tv. so pumped up for the world juniors - from the sounds of it there will be a lot of parity with usa, russia, sweden, finland and canada all being very comparable.
