1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

the first ever nascar race in mexico is taking place soon. i believe it's next week.

nascar does not have a following down there. it is considered inferior to formula one (ferrari used to have a couple of mexican drivers in the '60s). but, for some reason, nascar thinks they can create some interest in the sport down there.

apparently mexico has entered a couple of woman drivers, as well as a couple of cart series drivers, to race against the americans.

i'll be rooting for the girls.

Because there are 35-million + hispanics in the United States as of the 2000 census, so if you run a race in Mexico you stand a fair shot of getting not just that country but the fastest growing ethnic group in the US interested in your sport.

If it works, it's clearly worth the gamble.
