I know this forum is for boys, but you guys are so much better than the girl fashion forums, so this girl is coming to you for information.

So, I saw a man on the train tonight with messenger bag I think I want to buy for my boyfriend and maybe myself. I was too chicken to ask him what it was.

The bag was your classic messenger bag shape, with the big flap, and made of soft brown leather. The straps were white canvas with two thick yellow stripes and they wrapped around the entire bag (like around the sides, and underneath). The straps kind of looked like those canvas belts preppy 10 year olds wore in the 80's, but fat, maybe 2 1/2 - 3 inches wide. I liked it.

I think I may have seen a Swiss Army/Victorinox label on it (a cross punched into a metal plate). I'm not sure if that's right though, because I saw another name embossed on a leather tag on the bag (which I couldn't quite make out). I don't know. It looked a lot better than the Swiss Army brand suitcases, backpacks, etc. I usually see in the store.

So, anyone know what is? If I can find it, I'll burn my boyfriend's stupid nylon Jansport thing--that is, I'll give him a big kiss and ask him nicely and if he'd like me to replace it. Thanks so much, oh wise Style Forum boys who taught me all about raw denim!

Definitely Bally, the striped straps are one of their trademarks. Might run a few hundred, though there's usually a lot of their stuff on sale...

Yeah, Bally. None of their current stuff fits your description, so I guess it's from a past season. Zappos has a few, but nothing that fits your description exactly.

I'd put my $1 on Bally as well, with the embossed name and the striped cavas strap. A few hundred. Margiela makes really nice, rugged looking bags as well, but they are as or more expensive as Bally.

That's totally it! It looked like the Tango Messenger bag in the Zappos link, but in the brown/yellow color combo. Boys, you are my internet heroes; you know everything.

I should've known it would be a $600 bag. The burning/melting of his current messenger bag will have to wait. I'll keep an eye out on ebay... Thanks again!

Phone the Bally stores. Zappos is notoriously overpriced for their luxury goods. A lot of the stuff they have for full price is 40-50% off at the Bally stores.
