Hi guys,

I'm getting a suit and have decided on navy blue with tan shoes. Can you recommend a shirt, tie and pocket square combination? In terms of basic colours and maybe materials. I have very dark brown hair and greeny-brown eyes if that matters.

light blue shirt or white-blue striped shirt.

plain blue tie, would look for some contrast in the shades and materials of blue.

I agree, I was thinking light blue shirt myself.

Can you elaborate on materials and how you would contrast them? Different material tie?

Forget the tan shoes. Go with oxblood, or possibly brown.

^Disagree with the two foregoing posts. Tan shoes impart a more jaunty, casual look to the navy suit, but I certainly don't think they are wrong. I have heard this combination is quite popular with the men of Milan, who are widely reputed to be the most stylish in Europe.

I think a tie with elements of yellow would harmonize well with the tan shoes.

I'm considering a white shirt with forest green knitted tie (if I can get one). Thoughts?

Wait, what? I'm a newby here so excuse me if I'm out of place, but a navy suit with tan shoes, white shirt and knitted forest green tie?

Please don't for your own good.

Navy suit and green tie is pushing it, but fine. All tan shoes in my closet have been burned or thrown in the sea. If you're like me and 5'9 or shorter tan will only attract more unnecessary attention.

Follow the advise of the pros on here.

If you'll be walking the streets of Milan and want the Jaunty look go for it.

Otherwise. Black or burgundy will look much more debonair, IMO
